This is a great 'academic' school. Few sports related activities are available, however proximity to LA County USC Medical Center provides a plethora of volunteer opportunities. The area is not great but the school itself is very safe. The teachers are stellar and the curriculum very challenging. Plenty of medical and research related programs exist and the focus is on encouraging students to enter the medical field.

THis is a great school. My son went here for 4 years and he graduated. He continued on to UC Santa Cruz. I feel that they thoroughly prepared him.

Each child is encouraged to do their personal best without being labeled as the smart or dumb kids. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The principal is kind and knows each child by name. She is a great example of a leader and I will miss seeing her everyday as my daughter graduates this year. Thank you ANLC for bringing out the best in my children and giving them the encouragement and confidence they need to go out into the world! '

this school interacts with classes that give students the option of receiving a carrer in medicine, such as volunteer work in the hospital, and also by taking nursing classes to become a nurse.

I am currently enrolled at Bravo, and i have first hand advantage of seeing the 'real' Bravo. Bravo, in a nutshell, is a great school! The teachers are perfectly qualified for each of the subjects taught there. Like in any other high school, there are 'good' and 'bad' teachers, but the ratio of the 'good' teachers outweights the 'bad' here at Bravo. The amount of students enrolled at Bravo, is small compared to Wilson or Roosevelt, but by the school being relatively small, the teachers can work with each student--one on one. The amount of education your child could be exposed to, by enrolling to Bravo, is tremendous, but it all depends on the willingness of the child to learn and persevere, you cannot just blame the teachers or the staff. Also, Here at Bravo, there are many cultural differences, between students, which can help a child learn more about others.

Bravo is one of the best school's in Los Angeles, I went there from 1995-1999. I graduated with a great satisfaction. My teachers always did their best to do their job, and tried to teach us the knowledge they had. It is a shame that Bravo is so small, but I guess it was a good thing from keeping us distracted with more kids than the normal school out there. I think the school should expand just a bit more to allow more kids to go there, but the architecture of the building is gorgeous. Although Bravo lacks in a football team the students still have great physical activities. The student clubs are well organized, the staff is very nice, and practical. It is a shame when an old staff member or teacher leaves, but it's still a great school. I loved my time at Bravo its a wonderful school!

I think that Bravo is a very good school but the teachers are not being just to the students. Bravo is a very good school all the things that they teach you come in handy most of the time. Students dont understand that they are in a really good school.

What I like about Bravo most of all is that they have the STAR Program which allows students to do hands on research with great researchers from USC. If your child plans to go to Bravo this would be a way to get to a great college or university. Students should love science a lot if they want to go to Bravo. Great mentors! My daughter's highlight at Bravo was the STAR Program and going on to the State Science Fair and then to USC!

I graduated from Bravo in the mid 90s and continue to think that it is a great school. Bravo has some of the best teachers in LAUSD. This school continues to offer great opportunities. Many of Bravo's alumni have gone to good universities in the past few years. I personally know a few former students who are in medical school, law school, or in education. Overall, a wonderful school. Send your children there.

I know I'm supposed to write a comment only if I'm a parent, but I think the best source to for information is a past graduate. I graduated from Bravo High School in 2002, and I have to say, despite the difficult classes and what not, I was very satisfied with my high school education. The science classes are extraordinarily great! This school lives up to it's name as a medical magnet. You just have to find the resources at the high school.

The most dissatisfying issue that I've had to deal with are some very poor teachers. My daughter had a terrible Geometry teacher luckily mid year she was moved to another class with a teacher who was great only to have been laid off and replaced for the rest of the year with a substitute who did nothing in class. That was quite a waste. Other than that her other teachers were okay, some much better than others.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
