Great school excellent administration and staff and outstanding academic endeavor. I am positive sure that my son will earn the best education in science math and engineering because his dream is to become an aerospace engineer. Thanks LAUSD/USC CAE Magnet school high school for taking excellent care of my son.

THE SCHOOL IS VERY DETERMINED TO IMPROVING MUCH BETTER. I AM VERY IMPRESSION OF USC SCHOOL HAS GOOD EDUCATIONS. TEACHERS AND STAFF ARE FRIENDLY TO HELP WITH PARENTS ABOUT DISCUSS MANY THINGS ETC.IT IS WORTH FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS TOO.

As an ex teacher at 32nd Street I am surprised at the lack of current (only 2) comments here. I have run into about 2 dozen parents in the past year, and their overall feeling is that 32nd is on shaky ground. Their stellar vocal music teacher is gone, much turn over since 2010, and policies that the SSC and parents did not ask for. It seems that now that parent uproar removed various teachers, no one is willing to admit that there are still problems there. USC name sake or not, those children are wonderful and deserve a stable and supportive environment - from what parents told me, that is not the case, even after several issues seemed fixed to parents liking..

As a concerned parent I encourage others to visit their childrens classroom often. I visited recently and I was incredibly surprised to see that there were over 30 students assigned to ONE teacher. How can she have time to work independently with each and everyone of them? What if my child needs additional help or individual attention. There was no aide either. I agree with the previous comment, lets voice our concerns. This only benefits our children. Their learning experience would be so much easier for them.

32nd Street Magnet School Is headed in a right direction with the addition of a great hands-on principal Mr. Gonzalez and a enthusiastic resource staff. I have 3 children that come to 32nd and we always knew we had great teachers but now it seems everything is coming together. The website is up to date, we have more USC programs for our students, staff is cleaning up school, friendly personnel and people seem to listen to your concerns. We are headed in the right direction get involved.

I advice all parents to excercise their rights as parents. Ask to speak to the principal and if you dont get the responce that you need write a letter address it to the principal make a copy and send it to here boss. George McKenna superintendent district 7 323-242-1300. Remember your children deserves as much respect as administration. And, Yes Ms. Tate can be dificult but remember she is their for the students not for her health. Before this year i use to feel more welcome. It's starting to feel like less of a community

I must say this school is by far the worst school Ive attended. The teachers here are very difficult to understand and only care about getting paid and not the well being of the students education. The staff is terrible and uncommitted. The courses offered here are limited and not taken seriously. If you are planning to send your child here take note that this is a terrible school but a great day care.

I used to do to this school not so long ago. It was the best middle school experience i had. all my teachers cared about my well-being and academics, and the principal was very fitting for the school. Others might complain about it being bad, but this school is small & a safe, family-like community. It's what you make of your experience while you're there. I just knew how to make the most of what I had.

I used to go the 32nd St and my experience was the worst. I was teased everyday by students and the teachers only care about getting paid. They don't even teach and do their jobs. The principal is impossible to get a hold of and the staff acts like they're superior and treated us like garbage. I loved the day when I left that school

I am a sophmore at this school and i can tell you im having the worst time of my life here. The teachers are their to get paid thats it. I literally see kids smoke in the back of the school and on the way to PE. Since I arrived at the school i Havent learned not one thing and surprisingly my CST have gone down dramatically. I had a almost Advance in Algebra 1 in middle school and a Far Below Basic in geometry taking the class there. I would rather take my chance at MANUAL ARTS.

32nd st is a really cool school, i been there since kinder and i love my school .there like my second family. all the teachers are wonderlful . mr.denicola is the best math teacher. And mr.william is a god teacher he teaches choir and he trys to make your voice better and this school is really important for me because this school is so protective. i love this school.and im planning t0 put my family there and more.

I have attended this school since 1st grade and i love the teachers. they really make sure that you understand what your learning especially Mrs. Smith. The staff is great and the principal is loving and caring. The school gives great oppurtunities and if your child is interested in participating in them then they have a chance.they also reward hard working children. i love my school!

I thought the school was very interesting, but during the years there were a lot of fights....also a lot of new middle school teachers have come.... I have been there since 6th grade and every year there are new teachers..... The staff gives an impression like they dont care and and only SOME of the teachers seem like they care and actually try to help the student pass the class..... Overall the school is satisfactory in my opinion. ^-^

My daughter has attended since 6th grade (she left a review as well). There has been a very high turn over in the principal's office in the past two years. Teacher quality is a crap-shoot. Last year was the worst with no communication regarding classroom performance whatsoever which led to her attending summer school for the first time. This year is much better with teachers emailing frequently. My daughter's English teacher this year is very focused on SAT and High School prep work. Miss Tate is helpful when you can reach her yourself. Miss Becker is always available and very helpful - but is not a miracle worker. Art and Music classes are plentiful, but repetitious and remedial. The proximity to USC does not offer any benefit to Middle School students and is a safety

As a parent, I like the interaction of students as in a family: K to 12 grade. The youngest play with the older students and they know each other. Most interesting, students know who's parent is walking in the playground! However they need more classrooms for the high school.

My children were given the opportunity to attend 32nd Street USC in Sept 2003. Our decision (husband)for them to attend were based upon academic performance, API scoring and word of mouth from many parents. However I must say we have been very disappointed with the many turn-over of teachers, very little staff involvement, overwhelming elementary assignments, and the lack of middle school assignments. The API scoring has dropped dramatically. I must say in the beginning we were very pleased with this hiddent diamond. However I'm wondering if University of So. Cal (USC) is now embarrassed that this school bears its name. Mr. T the new principal has his work cut out for him. I pray things will turn around

I have not seen any academic improvement. To much tension throughout all staff. Its in great need of improvement in all educational & extracurricular activities. Its seems we are losing a lot of quality teachers in the past years. I hope to see some improvement with new principal. Much more parent involvement needed. My sons seems not to be challenge enough. More security throughout school. I have never come across in gang activity. Textbooks are need in class to avoid youth carrying them on a daily basis.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) School Experience Survey asks parents, students and employees about their school's learning environment. Results provide insight into school climate, such as whether the school is academically rigorous, engaging, safe, and collaborative. Learn more

We organized questions from the LAUSD School Experience Survey into five categories. The respondent group-level results (parents, students, and school employees) show the percent of each respondent group that agree or strongly agree that the school has positive results for that category.

Overall school results for each category are calculated by averaging across group-level results, ensuring that each respondent group is equally represented. Alongside the results for each school are the aggregated results across all LAUSD schools, which are provided as a basis for comparisons.
