I had worked at Maimonides for 5 yrs and had to quit because I was moving away. I came back to LA & I started to work at the school again. I realized the principal changed & oh did he change. He did not only change the whole entire school but most of the excellent teachers were gone. Not gone but fired bc he did not like them. Anyway, I enrolled my child there & got in. I had to pay over 800 just to secure a spot for her (other Jewish private schools r between 400-600 dollars), but we paid it. I was really excited for my child 2 go 2 this school, a school which I thought was AMAZING!!! It was about a week before the end of the school year and I hadnt had my contract to work there for the upcoming year. I went up to the principal and he said he will get back to me. He got back to me 2 days before the end of school and he had told me he had given my job away to someone else and that he didnt have a job for me. I was soo mad by his behavior and the way he treated me with absolutely no respect, I could not put my daughter in such a school where the principal treats his staff in such a way. I went and got my deposit back (this took them over 4 months to return to me - Y? I dont know.)

Maimonides Early Childhood Education has deteriorated rapidly over the last 3 years. Once a top rate program, it is now being run by unqualified and inexperienced educators for the most part, and great, experienced teachers have been replaced by young and inexperienced teachers who are not of the same caliber. The program has suffered significantly and many parents who were once thrilled with the program have taken their children elsewhere.

Maimonides Academy is the best Hebrew Day School is Los Angeles. I know this because my children have wonderful teachers, wonderful friends, the families in the school are great. The class sizes are small, so the children get a lot of attention. The administration is top-rate. The pre-school director is amazing. Maimonides is a like a family within a school - we love it!!!!

This school is phenomenal! The Teachers are so dedicated to bringing out every student's potential. The students learn so much and they go on to high school at the top of their classes. Even with the other school's students there, Maimonides students really are well prepared for high school, and life in general. I like how the boys and the girls are in a class together because in real life, men and women have to work together. This school is definitely a school that is worth going to if you are looking for an excellent Jewish day school!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
