My husband and I are extremely ecstatic about Pacific Harbor Christian School (PHCS). We decided years ago we wanted our children to attend a school that would academically change them and be a safe place where they would reach their full potential. A co-worker recommended PHCS. Our daughter attended her Elementary and Middle school years there and our son is currently attending the Elementary. It truly is a second home. PHCS has done great things for our entire family. Our children are well behaved and know what is expected of them. The principal, teachers, staff and coaches are well rounded individuals with an amazing love for Christ. Their passion and love for Christ is evident in all they do.

PHCS has a really solid academic program, and teachers that are very well prepared both academically and spiritually to serve as teachers and second set of parents to our kids. The availability of music, arts, extracurricular, and athletic activities combined with the solid academic foundation make our kids very well prepared for higher education. We love everyone at PHCS! We are blessed to have our kids here, in a loving, caring, Godly environment where bullying is not tolerated and kids learn to love one another. We won't have it any other way!

I love this school. My son has attended since preschool. He loves it and loves his teachers. There are great teachers with a long tenure who are very competent. The education level students receive is comparable to other schools with high ratings. I am a very involved parent and consistently track my son's progress. I couldn't' be more pleased with the quality.

I have 2 children that attend PHCS and I am very pleased!!! They both went through the preschool program and are now in elementary. I love the weekly chapel services and appreciate the teachers dedication to making God a priority in the lessons of ALL the academic subjects; God doesn't only work in Bible but in every day life! The school is very secure and the staff are all so loving and kind. I know that when my children come to school they are as safe and loved as if they were at home with me! Kudos PHCS- and continue your good work!

Pacific Harbor Christian School is a school where students are taught to strive for excellence in all areas of their lives. The new administration has made outstanding moves to improve teachnology in the classroom. In the 2009-2010 school year students will have the opportunity to use smart boards in the classrooms. Great strides have also been made to make sure that each grade is not only meeting the CA state standards academically, but that students understand how God's amazing plan is in each one. I have watched my child flourish in the past year with the new changes and challenges. She knows that with hard work, diligency, and a strong faith in God she can achieve her goal of going to Harvard and becoming a doctor.

My daughter currently attends the school as an 8th grader. I do not have any complaints at all. The math teacher and english teacher have been a great support to my daughter. The school is small which I consider a good thing, not to many students that your child gets lost in the suffle.

Teachers are very inexperienced and several lack college degrees and it shows. Middle school curriculum is not challenging, elementary school is ok, too many half days just to make extra money from childcare, nice staff but too much fun and not enough learning, and uniforms are very expensive.

Community ratings and reviews do not represent the views of GreatSchools nor does GreatSchools check their accuracy or verify the reviewers' identities. Use your discretion when evaluating these reviews.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
