The current principal has been at MMS since 2006 which is when my child first began to attend MMS. I feel the school has become stronger each year, and I was happy with it from the start. The administrators, faculty and support staff all care about the kids and they make an effort to get to know all the kids. I have seen teachers adjust their teaching methods to find what motivates students who might be struggling. It has been a pleasant and rewarding experience being involved with MMS. The principal, faculty administrative and support staff are wonderful and attentive to parent and student concerns.
I have a 6th grader in the school and I am very impressed. Our community doesn't always have the best news coming out of our school system, so having MMS become a California Distiguished School is wonderful news. The principal is great. He makes a real effort to connect with parents and students. The teachers and staff seem to be very motivated to help our children succeed and the school has a clear and fair discipline program. Keep up the good work!
My 14 year old daoughter and 12 year old son both attend MMS. It has been a fantastic experience since my daughter started grade 6. The teachers care, the principle is outside the front door greating students and parants alike each and every morning, and I feel very good about the progress my kids are making. It's a small school, so it seems that pretty much everyone knows everyone else and get along well.
my child attended and had a great time in 8th grade. the English program is very strong in the 8th grade. the principal was great to deal with. overall the experience was awsome.
One of my children attended this school. My observation, as a parent of a 'needs' child, is that the IEP document process was inordinantly difficult to achieve and not workable as a classroom guide for a successful learning experience. Most of the teachers are quite sincere and seem to be excellent for anyone not in this situation. But this is a rural environment with few options for those who may need more diversity, opportunity or exposure to a fuller educational experience. The rugged mountain environment demands a lot of parental/adult participation for safety and enjoyment. There are fewer resources within the community to draw from so parental creativity in education is a must.
