If you have a child who is struggling in school this place is not for you. When this school opened it was on the right path, then the principal left and everything slowly started going down hill. The new leader is not looking out for the students, she has created positions for people who will do things her way that do not benefit the children. Some students have entered there and left seriously below grade level. Not what you want for your child who is enentering high school. Before you beleive all the broken promises take a full day tour, you will see this school is a waste of taxpayers money. Maybe if they remove the principal, change the board especially the ones who where given positions at the school created by the board then the school can go on the right track again. This principal is not a good fit for students.
This school means well, but has a skewed view of what a good education is. With so many rules and so much testing that occurs throughout the year, children are not allowed to be children, but are being trained to merely do what they are told. Children need time to think, be creative and work with others to become caring, well-rounded individuals. At this school testing outcomes are typically inaccurate and testing is done in a way that sets many children up to fail. Small classrooms and virtually no hands-on learning leave this school lacking. For our family it was just not a good fit. It does not provide the environment we wanted for our children, nor the well-rounded education we expected from a charter school.
