I moved my grand daugther here from south Los Angeles in 2005 to attend summer school and make up the grades she had failed in L.A. The support and love that Dr. Glassman and Ms Michelle Andeson gave her the first semester changed her life. Her academic and gift for learning was notice by all the staff at Mckinleyville High, they are all a great part of the quality and spirit that shine in the students. Annayal is now a scholar and proud to be from the country (smile)
Im so sorry i sent that review, my emotions got the better of me that time. I'm sorry if i affended any one . I can get these mad rambleings if i am angry or upset at the time. I dont think mckinleyville is the greatest school on the planet, i was not verry impressed. but yes it does have some great acedemics.....:)
The academic programs here are middling, yet the staff is devoted and knowledgeable. The missing link here is not enough parent support and a lackluster community emphasis on education. There should be more extracurriculars especially in art, dance, music and theater. These kids need a way to express themselves outside the classroom and better help to shine within it.
McKinleyville High School offers a wide variety of curricula, experiences, extra-curricular activities, and choice. It is a very good school. My child's education is richer for the quality received. High in tech education, science, math, English, and foreign language. I am very satisfied with this excellent public school.
This school offers a variety of excellent programs for all ranges of students. It has recently become an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school and has won a prestigeous EAST (Environmental And Spatial Technology) grant. It is also in the process of becoming an IBO school (International Baccalaureate). The administration is farsighted and innovative, as are the teachers. Additionally, the school district has one of the most advanced staff development programs in the county. This is the school of my choice in Humboldt County.
