My son who is Deaf has been attending this school since he was in kindergarden. I've been very happy with ALL the DHH Teachers.
Our son has attended this school for the past 3 years in the deaf/hard of hearing class (dhh). The teachers are excellent and deserve much praise. Our son has and is continuing to cement his foundation. It's not easy to teach the dhh children not is it easy to have a deaf child but all the instructors and their aids and the staff make sure that we/they do not get left out and ensure that our kids have the same opportunities as the rest. We as parents have resources available to us to help us with sign language and any issue(s) we encounter. Our son loves going to school and interacts with all the kids {even the hearing children} great. I'm glad to be a part of this school. To the teachers, aids and staff.........A million thanks and praise.........Keep up the good work!
I think the school is doing great job with my kids. I once was a child at this school and I have seen the changes. And in my opion it has emproved alot.
Cresson Elementary has a good basic education program and dedicated teachers committed to helping students. It also has a specialized program for deaf students. My opinion is that because the students are predominently from hispanic families, overall test scores are lower than state averages because of the difficulty in teaching children who are not fully fluent in english. But the teachers that taught my son are dedicated professionals and helped my son excel in his education. In fifth grade, there was a 1 week science camp that is held annually for the students. However, there are not as many other extracurricular activities such as music and band programs as is offered in other more affluent school districts. Overall, I felt my son received a good education and great instruction from Cresson's staff.
