Reach Academy was founded with a great vision, and has a staff determined and capable of realizing it. With strong, ambitious new leadership as of fall 2009, the school is finally in upward swing, with its academic program being dramatically improved by the new principal and support from the district. The curriculum was Reach's weak link, and that is now one of the highest priorities. The staff has always been amazing, a group of sincerely dedicated teachers & other staff who put in a ridiculous amount of hours and will go far above & beyond for their students. I hope to see Reach Academy improve its arts and "enrichment" programs next.
Even though this school is located in the heart of Oakland drama the staff and teachers shine. My child started there this year and as long as the school maintains its mission she will continue to stay there. There is construction going on right now that makes it an eyesore but the dedication of the faculty to providing quality education stands strong.
