Manzanita Community School is such a wonderful school for parents wanting their children to learn in an environment of respect by everyone. We are a community, we teach through praise and respect and setting an example. The children are readers and are in love with their school library! Watch for us! Our test scores are on the rise! Our spirits are soaring! We ARE Manzanita Community School!
Manzanita Community is a small school in the heart of the Fruitvale. We have seventeen teachers and around 326 students. Our school is focused on the whole child as well as strong academics. We try to have small classes of twenty to twenty-five students in all grades. When possible, our teachers will "loop" with students, which mean they will stay with their class for two years. We have an after school program to support our most struggling students in the second through fifth grades with homework help and intervention. We also have a strong health and wellness policy that includes weekly P.E. classes for all students, a no chips, candy, or soda policy at lunch, a daily salad bar, a school nurse on site four days a week, and a weekly Farmers' Market for parents and community. Our school is a uniform school; students can wear blue or white polo shirts, white button down shirts, with blue bottoms (not jeans) and tennis shoes everyday.
Our mission is to inspire and support families to champion their children's education - at
school, at home and in their community. We are a national non-profit with offices and programs
in Oakland, Milwaukee, Washington D.C. and Indianapolis.
