I am an involved parent at Oceano Elementary. This is our second wonderful year, K-1st. We have an OUTSTANDING Principal MR.W, Teacher, staff, students, and parents. My children are doing wonderful and enjoying there teachers and friends, and their academic level is above average. Their teachers are wonderful at keeping me informed on their progress, and performance and truly care about the student and their well being. We have wonderful PE teachers, they're great with the students& inspirational and enthusiastic about keeping them active. Outstanding parent involvement last 2 years. I believe parent involvement is key to our student's success. This school and district has wonderful school programs, such as speech and tutoring, including the after school programs, I see the team leaders actively working with the students, academically and physically. All-in-all it's a Great school. Go Dolphins!! ~K.D.
The staff of the school does a great job and the parents are doing great
I am SHOCKED that Oceano Elementary recieved such a low score. Don't get me wrong, 5 is actually pretty good, but it is low for the school! While I grew up in San Luis Obispo, my wife attended Oceano Elementary, and now so does 2 of our 3 kids as well as our niece and nephew! The school facilities are great, the staff are fantastik (with a mix of multi cultural classes), and the after school program and PTA program is outstanding. Unfortunately, at the end of school last year, the school lost a few of their outstanding teachers due to the state budget programs, but the rest of the staff has stepped up to the additional responsibilities and are working through this issue.
This school is a great school. The teachers are very enthusiastic and there is good parent involvement.
Communication with parents about student progress before grades are jeopardized is lacking.
