I'm a sophmore at Oceanside High School. This school has great teachers and many activities. Right now I'm in Future teachers club, Jr. Civitan club, and show choir. This school has many graduates going to college. I think it is the best high school in San Diego County.

I only went to this school for my Freshman year. Due to my dad retiring from the Military and getting a job elsewhere we had to move. Oceanside is a really great school though, I love it. Go Pirates!

This is a great school. Its in a 'ruffer' area of Oceanside, but the school is fabulous. I would reccommend highly. You get out of a program what you ask from it. This school has many programs and support. A+

I am a former OHS student and I have to say that this is a high-quality school. The teachers there are very dedicated to their teaching and their students. OHS not only teaches you academics, but also teaches you about life, being part of a diverse democratic society, and post-high school pathways.

this is my first year as a student at ohs and i really like it. students who like to excel in academics can take ap classes at 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, and these classes are open to pretty much anyone who can try. a lot of extracircular activities and electives for students to be in. not sure about the parent activity, but i know during back to school night a know a lot of classrooms were filled.

My child has been in several schools (mostly in washington state} well any way he has had a major improvement sence he started at Oceanside High School, the teachers really do care and want to help him and the other children. My son has always had teachers that would just push him through the loop holes and cracks, they just didnt really care. My child is now in football and is excited to go to school. I love the way his teachers helped him and have kept me involved.

I think that it is sad to see that the security here is so bad this school trys to run it's school like a military camp and they yell at our kids. I will try to do everything to stop this public school from doing this.

Could not ask for a better school! The entire faculty is truly interested in each student and their families. OHS has a negative reputation and does not have a lot of money for new uniforms etc. but it has what is most important Guidence, Support, Love, Understanding. The entire staff is willing to do anything to help each student be the best they can be and get the best out of what the school has to offer. It does not matter what you look like, what you have, our age,or even when you graduated. OHS is one big family! It is the best all around for the students. The Principal, teachers, counselors, security everyone that works on campus really cares!

School is improving a lot. Remodeling has not only done a face lift for the site but also for the school. The teachers and principal are wonderful and really care for the students. The different ethnic backgrounds do not seem to be a real problem.

I've been attending Oceanside High School for four years now and I love it. The people are great. The teachers do actually try to make staudents see life from all different view pionts, not just a certain prospective like other schools. As far as racism goes, everyone knows each other and there is not a discrimination of any race. The diversity is what makes our school unique and there are many other people who agree.

I've been attending OHS for the last 3 years, I love this school! As a freshman I feared going to high school but once I got there it was the coolest experience I've ever had. The people there are awesome, you are accepted by everyone, there are no loners, no one is singled out. The teachers are always trying new methods of teaching to involve the studetns and that creates a great environment to learn, I know many of my friends actually like going to school there because they enjoy being there. In fact some kids transfer here and they hate coming to the school, due to the reputation it has been given, but as they near the end of their stay at OHS they don't want to leave.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 California used the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) to test high school students' skills in English language arts and mathematics. The results for grade 10 students taking the test for the first time are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The CAHSEE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of California. Students must pass all parts of the CAHSEE in order to graduate from high school. If they do not pass it the first time, students have multiple opportunities to retake the test. The goal is for all students to pass both sections of the test.
