My daughter loves this school! She just started attending it this year and everyone was very welcoming. Unfortunately she can only stay for this year because the curriculum only goes to 5th grade. This school was a breath of fresh air compared to the open enrollment school she attended before. The principal at this school is outstanding and the teachers really care about their students.
I was a student at Oakview (oh so many years ago) , and now my kids are there my daughter is going to 2nd grade this year and been there since kindergarten. I am very impressed with her progress. I enjoy the teachers and staff. The parents that are involved are great.
My daughter is in 5th grade and has been going to Oakveiw since kindergarden. This school is full of wonderful teachers and is in the middle of transitioning to a new principle, but was were very picky in picking a new principle and have heard very good thing about him. Oakview is like a big family and the parent participation is amazing. I have been very happy and am sad that my daughter will have to move on after next year. :[ Thanks Oakveiw! Kristi W.
I attended Oakview as did both of my daughters attended and all had good teachers, staff and friends.
My son is entering his second year at Oakview and we have been very pleased with his success and progress. His teachers were very attentive to his needs; the principal always acknowledged me and my son when she saw us on campus, and everyone is friendly. The school is very clean and organized and allows for ease of structured learning. There is a nice balance of 'fun' activities and play time though - something all kids need. Let's all remember: schools are only truly successful when the parents work together with the teachers to help the kids excel. We cannot 'ship' them there and expect them to do the work. This is an excellent school. Allison Adams
There is no family feeling about this school. For kids with disabilities it's very uneasy and can makes them frightened. Parents are too worried if you've checked in the office rather than getting to know you and be aquainted with you! This school was forced on my child after the closure of a school he loved and felt very comfortable with. Shame on the school district for doing this to our special needs children and shame on the principle for not making families feel more comfortable with these situations!!!!
Oakview has been an absolute blessing for my daughter. The principle ia an amazing open-minded compassionate leader. The teachers have always gone above and beyond to accommodate our needs. They have a great balance of structure and fun. Thank You Oakview staff for getting it done! Sincerely Lisa Elliott
Was a nice school, but the new principal likes to hear herself talk. Kids line up everywhere they go.
My daughter has been a student at Oakview for the past two years. Both her Kindergarten teacher and her first grade teacher were very attentive and caring. The teachers were always willing to take time either before school or after school if I had any questions or concerns regarding my daughter's school performance. They were also very sensitive to her well being and would seek me out if she had a hard day or if something upset her at school. I felt very connected and consequently 'tuned in' to her school day thanks to the teachers who were happy to keep me informed and involved. The teachers always had an open door policy as well--I could drop in anytime and observe or help out in the classroom. My daughter has had a great start in school both academically and socially thanks to the great efforts of her Oakview teachers.
