I graduated from this school over a year ago, (unfortunately for a full 4 years at this place...huge mistake on my part) and thought I may as well let you know what it's like. One more thing, if you put in the fact that the student attending the school speaks a second language THEY WILL PUT YOU IN AN ESL ENGLISH CLASS, just a warning. I highly recommend you don't attend this school, there multiple kids that do drugs, there were multiple students that were rude little scrubs. To this day I regret not attending online school instead of going to this pathetic place. Freshman and sophomore year were horrendous, unfortunately these pretty much cemented my hatred of this place. The last two years were honestly not that bad at all but by the time those came the damage that this place did to me was already done. Of course to anyone that might attend this school just know that your experience could be different from mine, it's just that I had some bad teachers and had to deal with even worse students the first two years. I could literally explain why this place is so bad all day but for the sake of time I'll just say this: STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL, it honestly has the power to make people miserable like I was, almost everyday I bask in the fact that I'm done with this terrible place.

Pretty Good excepts needs to be more challenging. Needs get that California Distinguished School to have a higher rating. Also probably needs that IB program, so don't send your kids if you want them to be challenged. Only good if you want them to have a good class rank and want colleges to see your kid or child stand out. Half of the kids in the classes don't study and too many class distractions, but overall nice. Too many students don't do well.

I believe that the teachers at Oroville High School are exceptional and go above and beyond to make sure their students succede. Furthermore, the majority of the students are respectful and care about their education and future. However, the students who do not cooperate with their teachers make it difficult for the students who are trying hard to get everything they deserve from their education. Overall, I really love this school.

Upon transferring to OHS... the school allowed my child to continue with a physiology class not offered at OHS. It was extra work for the generous staff who supervised and graded her progress. Plenty of AP classes with great teachers are offered. Gang activity is a real detractor.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
