well i go to this school all of the people there are always nice and friendly the electives are fun and are easy but challenging i like this school

Jackson is a very bad school I enroll their and saw bad behaviors in the school, and see a lot of bullying in the school the staff who patrols the students don't even do a thing they should have more staffs and lockers so I can store my stuff rather than carrying them. More likely there have been fewer field trips and fewer events in the school. Also there have been bullying in the school and the staffs and teachers don't even do a thing. The teachers don't come out to recess to look at the student if they are doing bad behavior or not. Parents do not enroll any students to that school !

I see all the oppositive of what I was informed. I have ALL positive input of L. Jackson. Staff is outstanding, from the parking lot, security, administration and the STAR coordinators. My first year with my 4th grader daughter and the resources and communication offered by teacher are great! Look forward in growing with this school and seeing MORE resources and involvement from other parents! thank you

My daughter is new 1st week there she seem to like the school so far how ever we do need to get her enrolled into an after school program because I am a single working mom until 5pm each week day mon-fri

this is the worst school my daughter has went to! there is so many staff but for what if they dont even do anything! there are so many fights there and the people that fight go back to school! i as a parent will not let my child attend this school! i think it is not safe for any kid!

I agree with the field trips and after school comments below (probably could be helped with some fund raising activities), but I feel the school has made improvements. I went to the Open House last month and there was a lot of parents who participated. The teached and principal seemed to care about the students.

yes i belive that this school isnt giving much of field trips and extra things, but i believe that it isnt their fault, infact isnt it the economic crisis, not only has jackosn fallen into this but so have many paramount k-8 schools. I would say that this school is progressing in some way, they have know offered electives and have added a helping class for students who have fallen behind. I strongly feel that Jackson is at its best.

So I've been to this school since since 4th grade and I'm currently in the 8th. And the it's really bad. Especially this year. They really don't do much for those who are ahead in classes and those who are behind. Lately I fell as I've been slipping behind in my classes. Sometimes I wonder if I should have stayed in the district of Compton.

My child just started this school the first 3 days were complete chaotic. The kids didnot received all there books tell last thursdays they started school on 8/25/08. I have never seen a school ran so badly. They have no after school activities so far. They have no field trips planned like other schools. The school has no hope for change for the students going there. They also donot have any challenging classes for children who are high achievers or natural gifted in science and math. I can not recommend this school.

My child has went to this school for one year and i am already taking her out. She is way more gifted then to go to that school school she is in fifth grade and is able to do seventh grade math. What the hell. All of the students there are mexican or hispanic. A lot of them don't speak fluent english, and why should all of the other kids who speak good english have to wait for the influent ones to get caught up? That is not fair.

I will not recommend this school to any parent. The teachers and staff are unable to control the kids going to class. Teachers are behind in their subjects , because too many kids are unruly. Which affects other kids who are there to learn. There are limited extra activites, sports or clubs programs established for this school. Complains of kids being teased are not taken seriously by the staff or teachers.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
