We are so thankful for Harvest. My son is loved, hugged and encouraged each and every day to be the best person and student he can be. The teachers and staff have gotten to know him and understand him. They are supporting me in raising him in a loving, positive, and supportive environment. When I leave him at school, I know he is absolutely getting the best education in town from the most loving staff. We know, we've been to another local public school for his first 3 years. Harvest is not only focused on strong academics, my son has been encouraged to sing here, do public speeches, create art from his heart, support his community, be a kind, positive person, understand where he excels and where he could put in more time and dedication, that learning is fun, that it might not always be easy but that hard work pays off, and to support and encourage his fellow classmates. I also love that he is acknowledged and noticed and that I know, without a doubt, that due to their excellent communication system in place, I will know that same day if something is not as it should be. We LOVE Harvest and are so thankful to have the BEST private school in Petaluma and one that we can afford.

We started off very happy with the school. We were happy to have our kids learning in a christian environment with academics being better than the public school. Unfortunately, this school has become obsessed with test scores just like the public schools and now send home pink slips if your child gets less than a B on anything. Also, scores have become so obsessed with that even awards that should be about more than academics are being given to those that are praised for their academics with little else being mentioned. HCS used to be about providing a education in a christian environment to being a christian school expecting all students to be honor students. That is no better than some elite ivy league type private school. I am sad to see this happening but I don't expect it to change as now they are bragging about how their expected high school is going to achieve academic greatness. I doubt even the apostles could have gone here without getting a pink slip or concerned emails to their parents.

Harvest Christian School is an amazing school that provides a classical education that is bible based. The administrators and teachers not only talk the talk with our kids, they walk the walk!! The kids get a great education and they all really love learning. Harvest kids excel in their studies and are encouraged to learn and achieve their goals. It is so wonderful to come to the school and see the kids from K to 8th happy and excited to learn and also recognized appropriately for their accomplishments. Harvest Christian has been such a blessing for my son Dillon both spiritually and academically. I cannot say enough about it!!!

To Whom It May Concern, We sent our two oldest to Harvest for Jr High (7th & 8th grade). It has been a very positive influence on them not only spiritually, but academically as well. The staff at Harvest really loves the children, there is no doubt in my mind the way that they care for the children as though they were their own. My kids were blessed as the teachers were always readily available, by email, phone, and one even asked to come over to teach one of our kids a bit more as they were not understanding a subject. I do not hear of that very often without compensation, but she wanted nothing, but to just see my child understand and enjoy it. My son has graduated and misses school, and I know my daughter will feel the same way at the end of the school year. Jr high is an awkward age for most, and being at this school has really prepared them to be secure of who they are and who they want to be. They have really been prepared academically as well, as they are a bit ahead of where the public schools are. Harvest is always willing to help the student and parent and is a great part of our community. I thank you for your time!

Harvest is doing an unusual thing in the way they are educating young scholars. First of all, the school is focused on Christ and loving the Him with everything (Mark 12:30). But the way they are training hearts and minds is completely distinct in Christian education. The school focuses on teaching students "how to learn" not just a common core of facts, by applying the "Trivium". The youngest scholars sing, chant, rhyme, everything from the vowel sounds to the scientific method as they explore the "grammar" of subjects. The logic students create timelines, debate, take formal logic courses and learn to order their knowledge. Students are graduating eighth grade with the ability to continue building their base of knowledge and the hunger to learn more. As the school grows, it seeks to build a high school where students continue their training to develop the skills for winsome communication, orally and in written word, to continue learning for a lifetime and serving others with joy. This school is building distinctly Christian education in Sonoma County with its unique classical methodologies and Christ-centered atmosphere.

We have been involved with this fantastic school for 7 years and our children that thrived in k-8th classes. The younger years have very nurturing and patient teachers who introduce the youngsters to a joy of learning. The following years slowly increase the academics in preparation for Middle School which is a great experience introducing logic as well as electives. I love that Latin is taught throughout as it helps with learning another foreign language as well as decoding complex English words. Also I love the way the whole school know each other and are friendly across the grades.

An amazing biblically based Christian school where the school motto says it all. Shaping Lives for Eternity. It is a great loving environment, passionate and committed staff, and super parent support. My kids thrive in this school.

Harvest is not only academically rigorous, it is serious about taking its calling as a classical Christian school very literally. Everything that is done at this school is done first by praying and seeking the Lord's counsel, second by loving and inspiring each child, and third by making sure they follow the classical school model in shaping the children. The staff are wonderfully gifted in their areas, almost all of them knowing the names of each child, their siblings (whether students at Harvest or not), and each parent. It is evident that the teachers are invested in the lives of each child and are eager to teach them not only the intense academics, but also spiritual lessons that will last with the children long after they leave Harvest. The board of directors and parent volunteers are eagerly and heavily involved with the life of the school and often know almost each child and parent by name and circumstance as well. Our family loves this school and pray that it continues its mission and hopefully will grow to include a High School within a few short years. We have not regretted becoming a part of the Harvest family.

Harvest Christian School is an amazing school. Not only do my children learn wonderful academic skills, but spiritual growth and character development are also top priorities. The teachers care deeply about the students and desire to see them succeed. Parents and extended family participate and are involved, not because they have to, but because they want to. I'm so happy that my children have the opportunity to go here. They've gone to HCS since kindergarten and are now approaching middle school. I wouldn't want them to be anywhere else.

We LOVE Harvest Christian School! Not only do they provide one of the best educations here in Sonoma County but the teachers are passionate about what they do. There is nothing better than knowing your children are safe, well cared for and instilled in them the same values we teach here at home. I am blown away with what my son and daughter are learning in 5th and 7th grade. This is our youngest 1st year at school and Harvest has been a great fit for her. I'd say having 3 happy children who look forward to going to school everyday is something to celebrate! Thank you Harvest Christian!

We have been at Harvest for a few years now and love it. We feel so blessed to have a great quality Christian school with afforadable tuition in Petaluma. The staff is very friendly and supportive. The classical Christian curriculum stretches the children. Harvest also takes pride in teaching the children manners and respect for themselves, other students and adults.

We just started at Harvest Christian School this 2013 school year and I am so happy with our choice. They have a wonderful focus on education but make sure that manners are followed as well. All of this in a loving and encouraging environment shown through each of the teachers, principals and staff. I knew I wanted to raise my child with Christian teaching and values but I have seen so much more at Harvest Christian. I am very excited to see my child develop as she continues her education at Harvest Christian in Petaluma. What I wonderful school and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Harvest Christian School is a unique school in this area. I was just telling my husband this morning how incredibly great it is to know that all three of our children are at HCS during the day - knowing that they are loved on, knowing that they are being taught not only amazing academics but also being shown the value of the truly important things like caring for one another and others, integrity, serving, and respect . This school is rooted in the bible and they truly live out the precepts...there is a great importance placed on the complete child; academic, spiritual, athletic and artistic.....we feel so blessed to be part of the HCS family!

I'm won over every day by Harvest! Since the first day we visited, I knew this was the school for our family. My daughter is in Kindergarden this year and her teacher is adored by the students and their parents - both past and present. She holds the class together with a perfect combination of caring and structure in her classroom. The other staff and the principal are equally outstanding - they know every student and take care of them with love. I think it's a healthy school that has the principal greeting each student as they get dropped off. I have heard only good things about the other teachers at Harvest and it really feels like we've just been adopted into a great family! Go visit and see for yourself!

Over the last 4 years Harvest has truly grown in our hearts. My heart sinks when I look back to the state that my son was in when he was welcomed into Harvest. I praise the Lord when I now look at the young man who he has grown into. They have a wonderful staff that has dedication and cares about every child. I truly appreciate them more than I can express.

We are a Catholic family that was disappointed in the 40 + class size and the "take it or leave it" attitude the Catholic schools were providing. Harvest has an amazing academic program with just the right amount of religion mixed in. The effort put into the sports program is impressive. Very family oriented school- with a price that is less than all other schools in the area. The school is run by a young principal who relates to the kids and parents- which really makes this the perfect school. They are still expanding- adding a playground and they have an excellent lunch program. We could not be happier.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
