This school lacks the vision and qualities that a great school should be. The school needs an overhaul completely from its leaders to the teachers. Everything is wrong in there.......imagine a kid has to see 8 teachers in one week....poor kids. Get out of the school soon !

We love Country Day! Our kids came from a neighboring public school and we feel like our children are in a place that is nurturing and safe plus we get an amazing education! We couldn't be happier with our experience. The faculty and administration are very supportive. We are lucky to have found such a place for our children.

Country Day has everything we want and more. Could not be happier with the teachers. My kids must see 8 teachers a week! Music, art, library etc. The list goes on and on. We have never experienced a school like this!

Country Day is much more than a school. It is a second home! The teachers all care about my kids as individuals. As special, and unique. They are loved, educated and really are being shaped into great people, the school supports what we strive for at home. They have art, music and incredibly small classes! 20:1 does not exist in any public school. We have 12:1 for my kindergartner! Worth every penny. And ended up cheaper than public when you add all the extra classes I had to pay for.

My kids have gone to public school and were lost in the massive class size (at least 30:1)! At Country Day class sizes are much smaller and the kids can really learn and the teachers can really teach. The kids here want to learn and they don't have the discipline issues that the public schools do because they don't have to put up with it!

Amazed by the remarks of the parents from the school, obviously, these parents are just observing from the surface. The school has leadership issues and there are no value add from the current team to add to the children education. Do not just look at the tangibles but the content of the education that your child is going thru. Most of the reviewers thinks it is a great school...but obviously most of the reviewers do not know whats is a great school. You have missed out so so much for your child. For one, the class size in the school is just like any other free public school except that you are paying so much more for this school. :)

This is an outstanding school. The teachers care about the school and each individual child. There is great communication and middle school parents can check their child's grades on the internet daily. If there are any problems, the teachers have always communicated them with me and my child before it gets to be a huge problem. Science labs and SmartBoards have been added when other schools are cutting. I feel my child is receiving a well-rounded education. Something to note: don't come to this school thinking you can write a big check and get your way... that is the problem I believe some of these negative reviews stem from. Country Day doesn't take big donations or have special donors, which makes it a much more even playing field for parents at a private school (where often the biggest donor gets the biggest say). Some folks don't get this and get mad when they demand their child be put in a different class or be given different work than what the teacher deems appropriate. Unfortunately (or fortunately), those people tend to feel negative and leave. I for one, am glad the administration doesn't let these parents run the school with their checkbook as they'd like to do

This great school creates lifelong learners. They learn different techniques for organizing their time from elementary through middle school - learning important planning skills along the way. Students also learn and grow through public speaking in their classrooms and in front of the school several times each year. I have seen my child and each classmate rise to the occasion. It builds confidence and is a great life skill.

This is a really wonderful school with high tech gadgets in the classrooms and teaching good old fashion values. The teachers and leadership are warm and truly seem to care about the kids. They know every child by name! It seems like every year the school spends money to improve something to benefit the children. My daughter loves the school very much and so do we.

My kid went to Rolling Hills Country Day School from 2nd to 8th grade. The staff was great and I can honestly say that they helped push my daughter ahead of the pack. Definitely a fan!

Great school! Great teachers! Great families! Where else can your kids have small class sizes with individual teachers for music, art, science, Spanish (middle school now has Mandarin!) computers, 4 physical education teachers? I have toured and researched many schools and this was the PERFECT fit for our family.

My children have just excelled at this school. We were at a local public school and I was sick of the LARGE class sizes! My kids weren't being challenged and the amount of discipline issues that the teachers had to deal with daily was AWFUL! More time was being spent on that than on learning. We could go back and attend a public local school (and save lots of money!), but it's hard to justify it when my kids love RHCDS and thrive there. It has been worth every sacrifice that we have made. RHCDS is not a fit for everyone (as seen by some of the awful comments elsewhere), but for every family that chooses to leave there are plenty of others choosing to come. The school stays current and hasn't cut back, in the last 3 years alone we have seen SMART boards in every classroom, a new PE field/turf, iPads in all the elementary classrooms, and a brand new lower school science lab.

RHCDS has a wonderful and nurturing environment. My kids have been apart of Lower and Middle School. I cannot thank the teachers and administration enough for what they are doing for my children. Even though the economy is tough, we choose to send our kids to private school. Our kids get the chance to swim during P.E., they also get to enjoy art classes, spanish, computer class as well as yoga! I cannot wait for school to resume is a couple of weeks. I would recommend RHCDS to any parent who would like to give their children the greatest gift of all... a great education!!!

This is such a warm, safe and nurturing environment. The school lets the kids see what their potential is and strive to be the best they can be. My kids are soooo lucky to get to go here! It is worth all the sacrifices we have to make!

We are pretty new, but have loved the experience so far. Everyone has been welcoming and it feels like the natural fit for my kids. My kids made friends easily and the teachers were really helpful with the transition between schools. Summer camp is amazing too and I just love the teachers and coaches. Could not be happier.

Country Day School has changed my family's life. My kids were so lucky to have the opportunity to graduate from CDS. They are now confident high schoolers with an incredible foundation in academics, and they are also nice kids that thrive socially/emotionally in their varied high schools. I cannot say enough about the environment they create on campus. Safe, challenging, and the kids are held accountable! I just love that. Kids make mistakes and Country Day is right there to help them figure things out and make the right choices. It is the best school on the hill and I challenge anyone to visit the campus and find any flaws!

I'm an alumni of this school and have nothing but positive to say about it. I came from a public school in 6th grade, and I can TRUELY appreciate what this school has to offer. Not only did the school help with with my education, but the uniforms took the awful teenage girl drama out of every day life. The teachers and staff gave me the tools to succeed in high school and in life. Country Day made my future brighter!

We are new to RHCDS this year and over halfway through the school year we can confidently say this is one of the best decisions we have made for our child. While many other schools in the area are cutting back on programs and emphasizing a curriculum that will simply yield high test scores, RHCDS continues to offer a well-rounded education. All of the teachers are caring and small class sizes allow for individualized attention when needed. The Lower School has specialty teachers for a variety of subjects (art, music, science, Spanish, physical education, and computer), in addition to the core curriculum taught by the main teacher. We never have to feel like our child will fall through the cracks here. We feel a school should offer more than just an academic education. With RHCDS, we can see the school reinforcing our efforts as parents to build the foundation for fine character, good study habits and strong decision making skills.

If you are looking for whole child development (academic, social, emotional and physical), then RHCDS is the place for your child. The teachers are amazing, approachable and very interested in their students. The art, music and physical education programs are outstanding. The Administration is progressive and focused on providing a foundation that leads to well rounded, successful adults (compassion, critical thinking skills, and leadership). A school can only do so much. When parents and school officials are on the same page, then a child thrives. However, some parents, as the negative comments suggest, may not understand the importance of that partnership. Communication is key to having any good relationship and that includes the relationship you have with your child's school. At a time when public schools are having to cut back programs or increase class sizes, the exact opposite is happening at RHCDS. I wholeheartedly recommend this school for proactive families who are active and engaged with their child's growth and development. If you expect to drop your child off, have the school do all of the work and complain, then please go somewhere else.

My kids get so much personalized attention at Rolling Hills! The teachers really know them and they are truly dedicated to developing the "whole child"! The classrooms are so well rounded, they get art, music, PE, computer, Spanish, library and so much more every week. I can't say enough about this school. I could not ask for a better education for my kids.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
