Supporting the ARTS and nurturing the whole child goes hand in hand with academic excellence at Glenwood Elementary. Dedicated teachers and an outstanding principal use their creativity to stretch the dollars for students who have not had the luxury of organized parental subsidies. They are open minded and up to date in delivering the best in these economically challenging times. I have volunteered to create a rainforest mural there with the children. When I see teachers bringing in their own paper for the xzerox machine and buying supplies for their classrooms, this would seem to be an ideal school that would most appreciate and utilize a bonus. Glenwood has not lost its 'spirit' and excitement about learning in the midst of pressure to deliver higher test scores. They run a tight ship to stick with the standards and maintain discipline, but also strive to provide the extras which they feel are basic, (Music, Art, Drama) . Robla district has been a leader in supporting Artists in the Schools for four years, until budgets in California were severely cut. They have a track record of good intent as well as action and I'd like to see them acknowledged in the bigger picture of dedicated schools. In light of current brain research as it relates to education, they are realize the many ways children learn and the staff is present and nurturing to their students who are on the 'grow.'

My daughter attended Glenwood 3-6 grade. For the most part, we thought well of the school. Two of her teachers were quite good. The others were so-so. Serveral teachers seemed new, young & unsure. There were very few field trips or other activities.
