Things are looking much better for Hollywood Park.... Thanks to our new principal Mr,Hamed Razawi. I have been a very active parent since 2001 and have seen many changes... good and bad. Mr, Ya struggled with our students and made many mistakes witch affected our schools reputation. I'm not bashing Mr,Ya.... he is a very kind a caring man but due to his lack of experience, many mistakes were made! This is a brighter year for H.P students and parents! Mr,Razawi has really come through and continues to impress me with the positive changes he has made with our school. Keep up the good work Mr,Razawi!! Sincerely, Hollywood Park Parent 2008-2009
This was once a great little school for children to go to. Unfortunately the new principal still has not quite managed how to balance all the aspects of this important job. It seems that some on his staff think they are the principal instead of a teacher.Teachers at this school seem to be caring and dedicated to the children with a few exception in both primary and intermediate. Apperently budget cuts brought an end to the few extracuricular activities they had except for the children who speak another language.
I was very saddened by the retirement of Mr. Young. Our new principal seems to have taken the school back a step or two. While Mr. Young was involved and visible, Mr. Yang is not. The lack of parent involvement, aside from the 5-10 PTO members is very disappointing. If we leave before our child graduates, I won't feel he is missing out on anything.
I am a parent of a past, present, and future 2004 kindergardener. My daughter was at H.P. in 4th, 5th and 6th (1998, 1999, 2000.) At that time the school was in bad shape. I have a second grader now at H.P. I feel that the principle Mr. Young has done wonderful things, since being there. When he first arrived I thought he was there to straighten things out then he would be leaving. I was pleasently surprised to find out that Mr. Young was going to remain there as principle. Mr. Young is involved in all aspects of the school. This I find Great. I believe that Mr. Young cares from his heart about the children. I am in the P.T.O. and I do know something about the numbers. Attendence has gone up and test scores have risen. Those are the facts! The teachers there are also wonderful. If Mr. Young feels that they could inprove, steps are taken to help that teacher in that area. This I know 1st hand. I have sat in the classrooms of other schools( including open Enrollment schools) and decided that my child is in the best school he could be in.
School seems to be more interested in school attendance, but not for the education of the children, but for the amount of money it will recieve if your child shows up or not. Also had my boyfreind pick up my child from the office a few times, and he was never questioned as to who he was, which has me a little worried about the security of the children. also has open access at all times to classrooms, it wouldn't take much for someone to come into the school and do harm to a child, in the past, schools that i went to there was no way for someone to enter the schhol without going to the office first. Seems to me they can do a little better then that when it comes to our children.
