The post from May 4th is disturbing to me! I have two kids attending the school for the last two and a half years and have had an enlightening experience at Mason. My third grader has weekly spelling tests, and yes, she brings home plenty of homework in multiple subjec areas. FYI There are several programs available for extra help...I guess you just have to ask! We have been given science and reading books for free, as well as computer software to help supplement lessons. My kindergartener has an amazing teacher and has steadily progressed throughout the year. Mason is an ideal environment for your child to learn and to THRIVE! The campus security has been tighter than previous years and I appreciate that. We will miss it when we PCS.
I am happy with this school. The teachers are excellent, the staff is top notch. I have no complaints about this school, I consider my family fortunate that my 2 children go there.
First of all they have no spelling tests at all and the only homework my son brings home is math homework . They have no reading classes for those who need a little help. My son will be behind his other classmates when we return to the east coast. I have never seen any books for science or history and he is in the 3rd grade.
The staff is wonderful from principal to staff to after school care. My first child attended Mason and now my second...my third child will definitely be attending Mason as well when he's ready!
I moved my daughter from Walker Elementary School to Mason Elementary school this year. My daughter is doing a lot better in 3rd grade now as she was almost failing 2nd grade. Her teacher Mrs. Martinez is fabulous and I have already seen vast improvemebts in my daughters school performance. Thank you Mason for having such a great principal and teachers who really care.
If you have a child with special needs or that receives special education services, I would not recommend Mason elementary. The principle does what is best for the school as a whole and ignores the individual needs of these precious children. You must be a strong advocate and be willing to fight for what should be automatically given! I am so sorry I chose Mason elementary for my son. The Teaches however are very good, kind and caring. I do have a child in 4th grade and she seems to be doing fabulously! Of course, she has no special needs! Unfortunately the special ed services lack and so does the principal!
Teachers there could afford to be a little more proactive without the principles instructions to do so.
Good school, better than average. The teachers are professionals, attentive to individual student needs.
We love this school. Our son has thrived in both kindergarten and first grade. They host many fundrasiers, and involve the parents as much as possible. I am very pleased with this school!
We are a military family in this area. Mason has been great. The teachers are awesome and really work with you. They help students who are in unique circumstances (dealing with frequent deployments or TADs) and help our children to grow and understand and be tolerant of others.
