Love the school. Exceptional academic programs, awesome teachers and a wonderful principal. Thanks, Mr. Jones and all the staff for putting in so much effort!
Awesome teachers who love to challenge the kids. The kids enjoy the learning challenge.
The teachers and the overall learning atmosphere are good.. the current principal needs to be more attentive to bulllying and student teasing . He is a bit lax about taking on those types of problems and tends to blow parents off.
My younger daughter attended most of 3rd grade at Solana Highlands. I echo the sentiment of the previous reviews. We could not be happier!
Solana Highlands places importance not only on academics but on the arts as well. Parents are extremely involved both in and out of the classroom.
The quality of academic programs are excellent. They push the kids hard, which may or may not be good for your child. Parent involvement is high and expected. There are good extracurricular activities as long as the parent involvement remains high.
Solana Highlands is a highly rated elementary school. Through a special foundation funded primarily by parents, extra music art and sports programs are funded that would not ordinarily be funded through state tax dollars. Parents are involved as volunteers on the playground and also to help teachers provide one on one assistance with students.
My son attended Solana Highlands for 3rd and 4th grade. His teachers set high goals for the students. The teachers expect to the students to learn the material in the state standards. They teach the material - not how to take the test. The school has an motivational program called Books and Beyond to encourage reading outside the classroom. In many classrooms, nearly every child reads 2500 pages during the school year to earn an award through the program. Solana Highlands has an extraordinary music teacher who does wonders with the large numbers of children in only an hour a week of music. Computer time is a little short -- only one period every other week in 4th grade.
