Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is horrible. I bet all of the positive reviews are from the faculty. I was a student and I feel like my experience at the school has ruined my life. I was one out of eight non-Hispanic children in the entire school so of course I'd get bullied by the children, but the ridiculous thing is that even the staff would treat me poorly. The principal though it was a huge joke too. They do not treat racism as a problem, but if I started picking on the other children I'd be burnt at the stake. The staff, generally speaking, is more immature than the kids. The one good teacher at this school is Mr. Segura. I'm not sure if he still teaches there, but I hope he doesn't. He's leagues over that joke they call a school.

We live around the corner, and our family is a bilingual, multi-ethnic household, but we decided to send our child elsewhere. There is little diversity and the test scores are poor. We called the school to donate items and the person answering phones did not understand English. This is public school, it is inexcusable for the front desk not to be English proficient.

My child went to this school. I do not recommend it. The new principal and superintendent are not honest and do not have integrity. There are bulling problems at this school and they are not addressed and resolved appropriately.

The school has been changing a lot from when my high school kids went there. Now my younger child is going to Burbank. I think my child is getting a good education. My child was reading at kinder, and so are a lot of young kids. I like the new field and playground. It is nice. They just hired a new principal and superintendent too. I hope it keeps getting better...

As a parent I am very happy to have my child in this school. It is a great school for parent participation and for children to learn in. The focus on academic achievement is greatly appreciated. The uniform policy is good for kids and good for parents. We never have to worry about what our child will wear to school. The dedication of the entire staff from administration to the teachers to the classified employees is superb! Thank you.

Check out the state website www.cde.ca.gov to see the test scores for yourself. Indeed they are up! The teachers and adminstrators at Luther Burbank are dedicated, caring and knowledgeable. Give a call or stop by to find out for yourself. Get involved to make a good place to learn even better!

I have had the great opportunity to volunteer at Luther Burbank School and I have found it to be an outstanding school that focuses on what is best for children. The Superintendent has provided quality leadership in reforming this small school district to a level of distinction. The principal is a perfect match for this school that serves a large Hispanic population. The teachers are of the highest quality and parent involvement permeates throughout the entire school. Test scores are up, a pattern for the past seven years. What more could a parent want?

Under the leadership of some fine administrators this school has raised academic achievement considerably. Over the past seven years scores have increased over 200 points. This is a great school with great teachers where all staff have the children as a top priority.

Luther Burbank School is an excellent place for children to learn. The smallness of the school makes it much more family oriented. At Luther Burbank the students always come first. That's the school motto and it shows in every aspect of the educational program. The school seeks to hire the best, most qualified teachers and the school has had excellent academic results.

Luther Burbank is not a good school for any child with special needs. Their lack of professional training in conflict resolution and lack of resources leaves a child in need, still needing. Our experience is that they did more harm then good to my child. The principal and superintendent have their own agenda, and if your child does not fall in line with it, you can expect a difficult time at this scool. Their agenda is budget driven with little emphasis on the best interest of the child.

The Teachers at LB work very hard, and they truly care for the students. This school has improved 100% in the last seven years. The staff places children first and it shows!

This school does not have enough discipline also the lack of supervision. The school may not be safe, but they do tend to care aboutt the students, if you want a better more secure school, I suggest John Muir Middle School (Burbank) would fit the job.

Luther Burbank, under the leadership of its new superintendent, director of instructional services and principal, is a wonderful school for children to attend. It is a small school in a small district with a much appreciate family feeling to it. The staff are excellent and cater to the needs of every child. The school is very child centered with a heavy emphasis on raising student academic achievement. Some of the excellent programs offered to children are Houghton Mifflin Reading, Saxon Math, Algebra for 8th grade students, Accelerated Reader, Waterford Early Reading Lab, portable lap top computer lab and the Fitness Center. Luther Burbank's parent involvement program for non English speaking parents has won statewide recognition as an exemplary program. Programs at Luther Burbank have won the Glen Hoffmann Award, the Golden Bell Award and an Excellence in Education Award. Luther Burbank is a small school with big goals.
