I have heard nothing but good about Abbott and the fact that it is a year round school gives me even more reason to send my grandson there. He has gone to a year round elementary school which is great. I feel three months is way too long to be out of school, loose too much of what they learned. I have been searching for a good, year round middle school for my grandsons and have decided that Abbott is best for them with all they have.

Abbott Middle School is an awesome year round school. It's the BEST middle school in San Mateo County.

Abbott has been a great place for my son. With only a few exceptions, the teachers have been top-notch: they are experts their subjects and they hold the kids to high standards. There are also many ways for kids to connect: sports, music, student government, science club, drama, etc. They discipline kids appropriately and consistently, and the school runs smoothly. In three years my son had one teacher who was incompetent, and that teacher was fired (not easy to do in a public school). Another teacher was competent but played favorites. Those are my only complaints.

Pros:Amazing music department; dedicated teachers; good selection of electives. Cons: only Spanish is offered; no grass for PE; year round schedule doesn't mesh with elementary.

I don't really like the YR thing and how that the last day of school is June 25. Also how they only have a 2 month vacation while others are having like 3 months!

Abbott Middle school is a very high standard school, safe, has good sports, and much more other great stuff. I think the arts are very great for children to get involved.

The change to a YR schedule is an example of how parents are totally disregarded. An incredible fiasco.

Great drama program. Diverse group of kid with a very deicated staff. PTA is very involved. Ask about their positive points program, which rewards students for good grades and behavior.

The physical education department is running great and I think they are producing good young athletes. They also have emphasis on streching which is important for kids.

While our daughter loved the performing arts and musical programming here and excelled academically, administration and staff weren't receptive to creating partnerships with parents. We found educators resistant to parent input. There are racial cliques and some tensions.
