Cal High needs to get its upper-classmen under control...as a Freshman just starting at Cal High, I was approached today by a Senior and his friend on the first floor as I was opening my locker. He says, "Hey buddy, you get my lock cut?" I said yes. (He had stolen it on the first day although it was assigned to me.) He said, "There's tons of other lockers." I said "Then go get one!" He got mad and said, "You gonna get me a new lock? That was a nice lock." I told him no and ignored him until he went away... This wasn't the only incident I've had with upper-classmen in my first three days here at Cal.

Great school and community. For every 9 great teachers you have that 1 that is a miss but that is everywhere. The odd/even day schedule works great for the students and much better than the traditional schedule. Lots of good academic programs and electives to choose from and prepares kids for college.

California high school is one of the best high schools, their teachers are dedicated, and send back e-mails to students praising them for their good work, the principle, teachers, counselors, office staff are all an great team, they keep parents up to date, informed and keep the kids motivated the school keeps the parent involved which in turn helps both the school and the parent help the students to succeed in life. I think the motto of this school is never give up, if you fall stand up and win the race, the school team and the parents are the two strong pillars for the support of the students, SAN RAMON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT is amazing EXPERIENCED AND DIGNIFIED WORKING STAFF.

Mark Corti is really there for the kids development. If you have an issue Mark Corti has a total open door policy. He will listen and do his best to give you the right advise. His staff counselors and teachers are really there to help your children. Mrs. Debose and Mrs. Saiti counselor/math teacher are right there with Mark to support your children and you as a parent. I look forward to my two children getting a wonderful education over the next 6 years. Please don't hesitate to give your support. You won't be disappointed.

Students seeking ways to develop and express their musical talents will be richly rewarded at Cal High. Ms. Lucerne Mottaz is the Music Instructor, providing consistently challenging, enriching and thoroughly entertaining programs over the years in Jazz, Concert, Chamber and Madrigal Choir, along with Music Theory. Students look forward to her classes, that annually include chorale performance field trips out of state (Boston, Chicago, New York, or Montreal, for example), as well as Winter performances (combining music, dance and drama) and performance engagement at Disneyland's California Adventure stage. Parents and students love to attend the annual, year end Pops Concert in early June. Through the music program, our daughter has also cultivated the friendships of so many talented students. Thanks Ms. Mottaz, Cal High music students and administration for providing us with 3 wonderful, memorable years (and counting) for our daughter!

Most teachers at Cal are passionate about their subject and are able to instill the desire for excellence among their students. As an example, when my son's English essay was corrected, the teacher had included comments/feedback about style and content. The comments were marked on the assignment and the suggestions were typed seperately and stapled to the essay. My son was 'shocked' to see this level of detail. I am so glad we moved here.

Cal Hi offers a lot of honors and AP courses to choose from. Kids who take these challenging classes have a good chance of getting into a top college. Both of my kids enjoyed their experience at Cal Hi.

California High School, like all public schools in California, has been hit by budget shortfalls in the past few years. However, test scores are remaining above the state level, there is a high graduation rate, and an admirable rate of admittance to 4 year universities. The AP program is top notch and what your child should strive for.

This is a good school. The facility is a bit old and not the most state of the art but the quality of education and the community involvement is amazing!

I think Cal High is a great high school. Education provided is better than most other schools that we looked at and the teachers and parents are a big part of that. Parent involvement is high and that makes the whole experience so much better for the kids and teachers.

The school is all right but it is definitely not the best. Most of its sports programs fail to even stay at par with other high schools in the area and the quality of education varies from teacher to teacher. There are a lot of 'cliques' here and some students find it hard to fit in because of that. The buildings are mostly old and in need of some renovation.

This school is okay but I know of teachers with attitudes. The people here are diverse, there are a lot of different ethnic groups but they all seem to get along. However, some kids have attitude problems, and there have been fights every other week.
