La Mirada has shown progress and still has room for more. The school climate is not very cohesive as far as parent and teacher communication. The community itself needs to take charge and work together (meaning both parents and teachers) to make it a commmunity of learners. Blaming others for students scores in a single State Test is not conducive to help but hinder progress.

La MIrada is on track for a change. The quality of education at this school is reflected on their last years state testing growth. SYMS is accountable for their students and should not point fingers at anyone but themselves.

La Mirada is a great school with great teachers that care. The school has a state recognized 'Teacher of the Year,' as well as numerous teachers that go above and beyond the call of duty. The bond between parents and teachers needs to improve for this school to rise above the stigma of being an underperforming school.

I use to think this school was a very good school but now the teachers just dont care at all. If they see a student who is strugguling they turn the other way.I personally met with some of these teachers at the time my child was in their class,i was told they would help but never did I see it. The bottom line is I think all they care about is their paycheck! We need caring teachers!

La Mirada is in trouble when it comes to what and how much the children are learning. The quality of education is reflected in the students at SYMS. There are those few teachers at La Mirada who actually care and they do make a difference-- but they are only a few.
