Miller school has been great for my kids, one in kinder and the other in state funded pre-school. Teachers are great, admin. is present and attentive to concerns. This year has been a great experience for my kids. Yes, there are many english language learners, presenting steep challenges for the teachers. My children speak english as their first language and i do not feel they underachieved because of the necessary attention paid to english leaners. In the long run they will be better prepared for the world in which we live because they had a multi-cultural experience in elementary school.
This school is very disappointing. School member's daughter is the principal. Weak English language program & the district has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on an ineffective English learning program
I am really pleased with Isaac Miller Elementary School. The teachers are wonderful and caring and the staff is great too!
I like this school ! The way it looks ,when you walk up! The teachers are very on top of the students! And the principal is with out a doubt very hands on!!!! my first grade student learned a lot !! she reads great !! good job Mrs. Moore !! The multicultural is good for my kids!!!
Miller School is a mixed bag of goods. Many of the students come from non-english speaking homes. The school is made up of working class and migrant families. It doesn't have the finesse of schools where most of the parents have been college educated. The principle is great, she fights for her students and is not afraid of tackling tough problems like proper funding and dealing with student issues. She knows her students. She is pragmatic about making sure teachers get the students an education. The teachers work hard and respond well to students who are enthusiastic about learning. The students and parents despite the demographics are serious about succeeding. They understand that this is the opportunity for them to make it in the world. It's a tough, competative school, without a lot of extras, just desire. Students will succeed.
