This school started out really impressive but then turned out to be a disappointment. My son went to Santa Su for 4 years and had 3 different principals. I must say the first two were really good (especially the 2nd) but the the third and last principal was big mistake on the school districts part. She does not communicate with the parents well and is very defensive on most issues that you might have. The school really went down hill in the last year. There are a lot of really good teachers there but dealing with the administration is not only painful for the parents but the students as well. We could not get any help with our questions regarding college from the counselor and when I went to the principal for help she was very nasty and told me to stop bothering teachers and counselors. I am very grateful to the help of an outside college counselor that I had to hire for the proper guidance and that my son is finally done with that school. I have another child at Simi High. I can say enough good things about that school.

I made a mistake in my last review and can't figure out how to edit it! The music teacher does not have a Masters Degree, she has a PHD in Conducting.

Santa Susana High is school is Incredible. The support from our teachers and staff is awesome! Majority of our teachers offer tutoring after school. I am an involved parent and have been welcomed in all departments. If you want to be involved log on to: http://www.santasusana.org/parents/organizations/ and make contact, we will show you the way. Our PTSA supports our school events, teachers/staff, and students. Boosters supports all the departments that focus in the Arts. Our Leadership Class supports all departments. All academies have their own committees and do a lot of fund raising on their own. Students at SSHS do not judge or stress about what you are wearing or who your friends are. Everyone is focused. They all know who they are and what they want out of life. My oldest son certified with honors in 2 Academies, Visual Arts with and Major in Animation and Computer Programming. My second son, a Junior; will certify in Music, Law, & Academics. The school has so much to offer, you just have to take advantage of it.

This school does not support children with learning disabilities. They put all the responsibility on the student and parent. They do not take any responsibility for lack of following the IEP. If a student wishes to implement part an accommodation on their IEP they must ask the teacher for it in advance. The School District supports this schools actions. Not a good school if your child needs support.

This is basically a good school. The one area that I found disappointing was this: Many students have problems with Chemistry and Algebra and higher math. THEY HAVE A POOR TUTORING PLAN TO HELP THESE STUDENTS...the only plan the school seemed to have was informal tutoring by "A" students. This didn't work due to these "A" students not showing up or too few of them showing up to handle the need for tutoring. They need to develope a list of chemistry and math ADULT tutors to help students who need extra help.

I am currently a student at Santa Susana High School and I love it! It is a really great schools with a great staff. Santa Su is like a second home for mr and i love it here. And people might say this school is for "freaks" but it isnt. I am in the Choir Department and it is prob the best thing i couldve done at Santa Su!!!! <333

My son attended private school his whole life. He was ready to experience some reality. I have been impressed with the school from the beginning. An Assistant Vice Principal is out in the school yard every morning and afternoon along with the Principal visitng with the kids during lunch time. Important to get to know your students! The classes have been challenging and my son are taking College Prep and AP classes in his freshmen year. Counselor and school involvement are important to this school and it shows!

This school is ok not great but not bad how do i know im a student at santa susana high school they make a big deal about how its "So much diffrent then others schools" and its not. And they always side with teachers not students. And all the money they make goes to the School of Art thats the only one they care about they couldn't care less about the School of Technology or the School of Academics even though thier the one that actually do stuff.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
