I love Vista! I have been here since 1st grade and I love it! All teachers work with you to help you. The principal is nice. I am in fifth grade and love it. It is a lottery school and is hard to get into if you are not in kindergarten, but I highly recommend Vista fundamental!

This school requires a lot of parent involvement and I think that is why we are successful. The teachers are great! We love it there....the motto is "teacher, parent and student involvement"...it does WORK!

Parent participation makes this school such a success! Of our 3 children one is a Visa graduate and two are still attending. For the most part we have had a lovely experience. Our only criticisms would be their lack of updated classrooms and technology, which is being worked on with much passion. We also had an awful experience with one teacher and our struggling student. Our requests for assistance were met with a swift invitation to leave the school. We did not leave but instead had to become very strong advocates for our child, who is doing well. There are many more positives than negatives about this school. Hopefully some improvement in the areas most reviewers seem to agree upon. Simi Valley needs more schools like Vista.

This school will not help your child if they are struggling. There are no support from teachers or principal. They only honor the successful students. They ignore the ones that struggle and will even uninvite you to change schools. I have friends that are teachers in Simi and they all stated that the teachers at Vista refuse to work harder and help those in need!

My granddaughter has been a student at Vista since kindeergarten. I have been a volunteer since she started school. All of the teachers have been fantastic and really care about the students. What i'm dismayed about is how dirty the classrooms are. I helped one of the teachers this year get ready for the 2012-2013 year and had to wipe down all of the desks inside and out and believe me they were filthy then I cleaned the vent because it has never been done and I doubt if any of the filters have ever been changed. I worry about our childrens health. Their were cob webs all over the classroom why weren't these classrooms thoroughly cleaned over the summer vacation. Also, have you noticed that Vistas grounds are always dirty? How can we all get these issues solved? For this problem I give the school a 0. Thank you.

Uniqueness in Vista's teaching principles is to instill dicipline (both academic and behavioural) and organizational skills in kids from the beginning. Having gone through fundamental institution myself, I truely believe that it is very important that kids learn these aspects in early stages. We love Vista.

At Vista everyone is so friendly and warm. The teachers are enthusiastic and excited about what they are teaching our children. Then, in turn the children are too! At Vista there are many parent volunteers which just add to the time the teachers can spend educating our children. Our family loves Vista!

Vista's new principal is Mrs. Vale, and she brings a nice tone of caring and wanting the best for the students. The school's traffic is fairly smoothed out. What I like best is that the school feels like a small community. Most of the parents are commuters--with none of us living close by. So we park and walk our kids in to the school grounds and typically get a warm hi and hello from fellow parents and staff that are out side. There is a sense of teamwork, and I think it started from the top and has worked it's way down.

I have a 1st grader. The teacher is on the ball and the kids respect her. The class is divided into different levels, this way each students does not feel left out. The kids catch up quickly and w/the parents involvement the kids do great. The school staff is very nice and helpful and are willing to help. We are very happy at Vista.

The academic program at Vista is excellent. The teachers are wonderful. The parents are highly involved. Physical education and recess time are a bit limited. I would like to see them increased. A more developed music program for the 4th through 6th graders would be a good addition.

I have two daughters in Vista. One in 3rd grade and one in 1st grade. I have been very pleased with Vista overall and find that because of high parent involvement and volunteering it is a great school. So far so good.

This is a great school as long as you have an over achieving child. If your child needs extra help in any way you will be told to find another school. Not a school for all children. Speaking from 7 years experience and two very different children. One who did very well and another who was treated terribly.

Vista is getting a new principal this year 2005-2006. It is a fundamental school and homework is a requirement of every grade level. The PTA is very active and promotes great programs for the kids and supports the teachers financially and socially. While the school has strict rules on conduct and dress, past years it has not been enforced consistently as it shoud have been. Parent involvement needs improvement. Most parents will step up when pressed but volunteers are getting fewer and fewer. It is the old 80/20 rule where a few are doing most of the work. On the other hand participation at festivals and fundraisers are well attended.

The quality of academics at Vista is very high. The expectations of all students are high and the teachers are excellent at helping the students reach their full potential. Art and music are integrated into the classrooms. The two downsides to Vista are 1. there is no formal form of physical education and 2. they do not offer the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. They do however, learn to read music in the fourth grade by learning to play the recorder. Parental involvement is very high at Vista. They work hard in the classrooms helping teachers, they raise money for field trips, equipment, etc. and they bring quality programs to Vista. I have been very happy with the overall program at Vista Fundamental School.

Vista Fundemental Elementary School has the designation of 'California Distinguished School' due to it's high standards and it's parent involvement. Enrollment is by lottery. Those who are lucky enough to get in, find it extremely challenging. My children ended up in the Honor Society in Middle School and High School. I believe it is due to the prep they were given at Vista!
