Best School in the area and one of the best in California. I am a graduate at Shively and on my way to college. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a great school. The teachers are amazing and very helpful. The whole atmosphere of the school is extremely friendly. Learned a lot about working together with other people, we were like one big family.

Shively is a great school. It is up to the parents to have thier children get the best education by getting involved. The teachers here to their part while they have the children during school hours. Teachers are concerned about every childs grade and try hard to make them succeed. This is an all around great school!

Shively school is a disapointment to me and my sons that go to Shively. It is a very old and tired school that is not improving on teachers or adding a gym, lockers, ect.

I have one child there now and another starting next year. So far I think the school is good, the Teachers seem to care about their students and the Principal is strict and on top of both schools; impressed I might say. One of the things I don't like is that the stundents do not have lockers.

My children attended this school district for 4 years, the oldest attended this particular school. He is now in adv classes and attends the #40 top rated school in the US and I contribute that partly to the foundation he built up at DLS. I was impressed by the school right away, there are only 2 schools in the district Shivley and New Temple and I believe this allows for the school to focus more on the students! I am and was always extremely satisfied with the Principle and his staff. The District is strick - but fair! The uniform rule is harsh - but the children know from kinder that the school means business and will enforce all of the rules. Im a mother of 3 boys and this is my rating!

Huge teacher turn-over, principal shared by two schools, very poor administration. Uniform policy is super strict. I only liked going their because of my friends.

From what I can tell, the programs are excellent. The music program is excelled, there is a good GATE program that pushes the students forward, and sports/cheerleading teams are very good. The students get fresh air and the cafeteria is used to hold assemblies when not used in rainy days. Convenient.

As long as you let them know that you are involved in your childs education they work with you to make sure your child succeeds. My child was a GATE student, so all I can say as far as academically I thought the school was on top of things (gave lots of homework).
