The teachers are very willing to work together with the parents to create a great learning environment for the students. This relationship truly makes parent involvement easier and pleasant.
The professionalism and the human quality of the teachers make the difference in this school. Unfortunately, just the Principal have changed many times, for some reason. We think we won't find better teachers with humillity, commitment and understanding that the PHE's teachers. Teachers also do their best under any circunstances, like the current economy that affects the education in many ways. Thank you PHE!
The teachers are good with their students and parents get involved.
Potrero Heights is an incredibly ethnically diverse school, which only adds to the academic standards of this institution. It's small enough to feel like family, and all the extra activities throughout the year are a major plus. PTA is very active and handles many of the major events. Teachers have high standards and are consistent in their academic rigor. Excellent school!
In the sense of an elementary school, Poterro Heights provides a demanding education for its chilrdren including safety, creativity that enhance the power and strength of children to succeed their education
Potrero Heights does continue rating one of the highest schools in Montebello, but teachers at this school need to stay current with educational research and best teaching practices. Jill Rojas, the new principal is bringing in new ideas to the school. It was about time potrero heights implemented new ideas not just with teachers, student discipline, but with the school as a whole. A great example, she has given daycare their own classroom. I hope to see more positive change, and teachers trying out new strategies in the delivery of their instruction. As new leadership is being implemented, let's celebrate positive change because overall all of our elementary's API continue to increase.
My daughter attends has ben attending PHE since she was in Kinder all of her teachers have been amazing at their job. I want to congratulate them all. I'm not completely convinced by the new Principal, I'm not doubting she is good at her job but she seems a little to tough on the kids. That's my only concern.
This is one of the best school in this district. My son this year(3rd grade) scored perfect 600 on both Math and English, credit goes to his teacher and to the school for all the extra programs they did successfully.
My daughter studied here last year and I must say its a great school very good staff and helpful too.
I give PHE a perfect '10', its a small school with a 'big village feel'. Kudos to Mrs. Norris, the principal, for the little things like standing in the courtyard afterschool dismissing the kids and giving parents the time to talk with them. My husband and I look forward to all the school activities, like Family Night, Science Fair, Father/Son Sports Night and especially the Winter Program, all of which are full performances. My son looks forward to attending class every day! My husband and I make it a point to hear about his day and assist with homework when necessary. This is key for any child's success. Something we learned how to achieve by attending the free parent information workshops sponsored by the school. The entire staff is amazingly friendly, from the lunch ladies and the parent volunteers to the teachers and the secretaries! Five Stars to PHE!
