I just like to say if it wasn't for garden school my daughter would still behind in school. My 8yr old daughter started this school in Jan of 2009 and when they tested her she was a year and a half behind in school and her speech was not improving so the teachers and principal all helped her with getting her with having more time in speech and also putting her in reading classes and this year because she was still struggling her teacher started an after school tutoring for free with kids that were having trouble and now my daughter is less then 25% behind in school and i have seen a big improvement . The principal is really the best because she dose not only care about are children but the parents as well and knows every one of are names, we are all like a big family.
Garden is an awesome school and Barbara Xavier is an excellent principal
Could not ask for a better kinder more involved principle than Barbara Xavier nor a more caring and good teacher than 6th grade teach Mrs. Silva
Our kids have been attending Garden school for about 4 years now and I tell you its the best school by far from our experience. The quality in their teachers..Wow! Mrs. Fishbough she is one of a kind. I am proud to say that my daughter will remember her forever. This school encourages our children to dream big. Over all the quality in academics programs, extracurricular activities and parent involvement is spectacular.
Our kids have been at Garden for six years and we have had really great experiences over the years. The teachers are excellent, the parents are really involved and the kids enjoy their experiences there. The only thing I find lacking is the art program that was dropped several years ago. There is still music, but learning about art and artists is important as well. I don't care much for the way the musical theatre program is treated as though it is as important as academics, it is an extra-curricular activity and should be treated as such. Parents are welcomed into the classroom and teachers are really appreciative of help. My fifth grader was able to create powerpoint presentations that some college students couldn't. The only thing I dislike a lot is the parking lot situation, anyone with kids at Garden who has ever been blocked in by someone knows.
Our family is thoroughly enjoying Garden School. My son has loved his teachers and his whole experience at this amazing school. I look forward to my youngest attending Kindergarten this year as well. Mr. H was always so receptive to parents and very accommodating to our needs and wants. I hope the new principal is as kind and accommodating as Mr. H has been. We will miss him greatly. He was a wonderful role model and support for our school.
I really am impressed overall with Garden. The teachers really seem to genuinely care about the kids. I think my kids who are now in 5th and 2nd grade are getting a very good education. My oldest son is taking clarinet lessons and likes that. The sports are okay- maybe lacking in that department. The kids are encouraged to do many extracurricular activities. My son ran for vice president this year- though he did not win it was a great experience for him. His confidence in himself is blossoming. Parents seem to be very involved and are encouraged to be!
Overall, very satisfied with Garden School. Academically strong, but also incorporate values and hands-on activities. My son has learn a great deal and enjoys school. Teachers are warm and genuinely interested in their students. Good school spirit and pride from the students, parents, to the teachers and principal.
