Foothill far exceeded my expectations as an incoming freshman, and let me tell you, those expectations were set very high. From the superb academics, caring teachers, beautiful and clean facilities, to the great interrelations and acceptance of other students, Foothill has really served me well. I could not imagine my high school career looking any different, and would not change one thing about it. To address other parents' concerns, yes, Foothill is an academically rigorous school and the environment on campus follows suit. Your student may encounter a significant increase in both the quantity and intensity of homework from middle school. Depending on the classes of which your child is enrolled, the rigor varies, but I can assure that all classes and homework loads are manageable, especially with the daily academic advisory period (FIRE) that all freshmen are required to take. Foothill has proven to be a great school, not only in state and nation-wide rankings, but moreover within my eyes as a recent graduate. I whole-heartedly believe that I would not have had such a successful high school career without the many opportunities FTHS provided to me. Thanks Foothill.

My daughter used to be at the top of the class at Cabrillo middle school, but the teachers here neglect to pay attention to every student, and she is lagging behind because of this! I have to take extra time to help her after school, which should be the teachers job.

This school is full of great teachers that want the best for their students. All the classes are very intense and they help students get the most out of high school. We are #1 in Ventura County, Top 20 in California and nominated to be a National Blue Ribbon School.

I love Foothill so, so much. It really is the best school in Ventura County. I know that I would be happy at my home school of VHS, and I almost went there, but I know that Foothill is the best school for me! Foothill is exceptional in every way. The teachers are outstanding, the students there are (mostly, of course) awesome and so easy to make friends with, and extracurricular activities are amazing. However, if you really don't care about school and how you do there, you need to go to your home school and let somebody else have a shot, because there's a reason that we are in the top 1% in the country!!!! If you want to excel, go to FTHS.

It has a great academic program, and all the students there are just so friendly and outgoing, and it is a very safe school to be at. On top of all of that, it is the #1 high school in Ventura County. Talk about a great school!

I love FTHS because they have great teachers who really care about how you do and want you to succeed. The BioScience Academy is great, and no other school in VUSD has a program this great! Plus, we are #1 in Ventura County! This is a great school and I am so glad I chose to go to this school.

My son really enjoys this school and finds it to be very helpfull. The teachers there he says are all very supportive and have every intention to help. One time a teahcer even skipped their lunch to help him. He also finds it conviennent how the school itslef works with the other schools to helo transport him and other students to the other schools for sports. Foothill does not have any christian school relavance like one of the remarks posted before.

Best High School for families seeking an education in Ventura County! The focus on learning is supported by the FIRE program and motivated, enthusiastic and well educated teachers. My sons are thriving and experience no bullying (unlike every other public school in the district they have attended). Other students want to learn too which reduces classroom disciplinary distractions to a minimum. Most of the students want to be at FTHS, ie there are only a few students whose parents make them attend. Parent teacher conferences were very helpful and yielded desired results.

Great school, structured in a way that is inviting to both upper and lower classmen. Much encouragement and incentive to one's best. Up to date technology in computers and programs. My student feels she has the best of both worlds enjoying small school enviornment for academics, but traveling to larger boundary school for sports. She has no problem transitioning between schools.

This school really works for a certain type of student. While I found most of the teacher caring and motivated, I found the administration to be very inflexible to the individual needs of the students. If your student is very academic and not interestd in a lot of outside activities this school can really work. Being bussed to other schols for sports can be a hassle. Like any school there are good and bad things to consider.

Foothill Technology High School is a magnet school that provides a challenging and exciting academic experience for its students. The teachers are young and inspiring and since it is a relatively small school most teachers know most of the students so there is a sense of community as well as accountability. Although the campus offers no athletics students are able to be bused to their otherwise zoned school for all athletics offered. Foothill strives for the highest level of academic performance from their student body as well as the faculty with enthusiasm and encouragement from the principal to the maintenance staff.

Relatively small school environment, so variety of classes is sometimes limited. Mostly young and highly motivated teachers. Independent study PE is a good option. Kids don't get the full high school experience; it's a trade-off. Big Christian component, may be uncomfortable for those who don't participate in Christian activities. Good counseling support. Good availability to teachers at school and on-line.

Parents are super involved, which is evident. Teachers really love what they're doing and try to help student succeed. Offers both college prep and advanced placement courses, and participates with community college across the street to get kids enrolled in college courses while in high school. No athletics on campus, but students can play for their boundray school (Buena or Ventura). Good art program. No music program, but same as sport - can play at Buena of Ventura.

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
