At Maryland Elementary you are forced to enter through the back gate, never interacting with office staff, and the same at pick up. Traffic signage is not enforced with the pick-up drop-off lane being used only as a parking area, leading to a hectic mess around the back gate morning and afternoon. Children are denied breakfast if they enter school even one minute past the cut-off whicjh is before the school bell rings, yet you cannot drop them off at the front gate which is directly next to the cafeteria. I feel my child is being denied a quality education being shuved off to english language learner oops my child is American and not being given any writing assignments. A serious lack of any projects to work on at home, as in none. Book report requirement for my fourth grader consisted of a four sentence summary and a drawing? Second grade at another school had harder assignments. A lack of attention on the playground, my daughter got hit in the head with a rock by another student and they denied her a visit to the school nurse. The list goes on and on, HELP we need out of here.

The campus is clean and organized. The administration and Teachers are very nice and helpful..I hope that this school will work on more parent/teacher/student programs.

Maryland has a great staff of caring teachers who are working hard to maintain high standards for all the students. There are after school programs, tutoring, music, technology, and PE enrichments. There are many challenges associated with the construction of the school including very limited parking, but this is a place where children love to come!

When this school started 2 years ago with Hector Menchaca as the principal it showed great promise. However, the change of leadership that put Ms. Thede in charge has been made this school environment very unpleasant. There is so supervision in the parking lot before school. The drop off and pick up process that ran so smoothly the first year became a disorganized and dangerous mess. It's only a matter of time until a student is seriously injured in or around the school parking lot. School assemblies and open houses are a disorganized mess with no thought being put into where parents may park. I once arrived to an assembly and was told parents were not allowed to attend. The teachers seem miserable and the principal has no connection with the students.
