Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I'm now a 7th grader at this school, and I started going to this school last year as a new student. The teachers are really nice, my favorites were Mrs. Reynolds and Mr. Kealy. They're both strict teachers but i love strict teachers! As long as you do what you're asked to, you wont get in trouble! They both know how to make learning fun and if you can't understand the lesson, they will take the time to explain it in a way you can understand. I haven't really found true friends at this school, I still hang out with my friends from my old school. I might just like the teachers more than the students!:P but yes there are really nice students too, I just don't fit in this school. I've been asking my mom to move back to my old school, but I also have second thoughts cause I know I'll miss the teachers there!

It's fun and there are many great teachers that supports you . There are many friends that you can meet and all have different cultures . Plus , unlike any other middle schools' Edgewood Middle School is a huge school and there are a bunch of students that are friendly and supportive .

The vice principal is very helpful as is the probation officer. No, my child does not see him for disciplinary reasons. I don't care much for one counselor inparticular. She'll listen to your issue, act like she cares and then do nothing about it. There is 1 math teacher that seems to care more about her own studies than those of her students. If u are not involved in ur child's education they will drown at the school. The choir teacher is amazing and loves his job and his students. The 8th grade history teacher is another great one. Of all the middle schools in the area, Edgewood is probably the best.

My child was bullied and hurt at this school and so were 4 other kids that we know of. The staff did nothing about it and didnt take the problem seriously! San Jose is highly recommended if you are looking to enter your child into middle school

I am a parent of a student at Edgewood. My child struggled prior to going to Edgewood. He is now doing fantastic and I owe it to the great teachers at the school. I made such a great choice by enrolling my child there! My son has blossomed in many ways since being there. Thank you Edgewood for making a difference in my childs life!

Love Edgewood Middle School! I have 2 kids that have graduated Edgewood Middle and one that is a student. All of my kids did so well at the school. The teachers are amazing! They all really go above and beyond and have always cared for each of my children. Awesome school!

Edgewood is a great school. Although i particualrly dislike the principal, the school has great teachers such as Ms. Leighton, Mrs. Bezaire, Mr. Lawler, Ms. Radcliffe, Ms. Jewell, and much more!!

The extracurricular activities at Edgewood are way above the average. The Arts program is truly unique. It's refreshing to find a school that emphazises the importance of the arts in education.

I am a 6th grader in EMS and I think that EMS is a very good school. Good teachers, great lunches, and the students who do well in class get great prizes. The only bad thing is that recess is only 4 minutes and going from class to class has to be under 3 minutes.

This is second year for my child to attend at EMS and she has enjoyed a lot for a shy and quiet child. The principal and teachers are great.

my previous review was no abiding the guidelines well here is the truth about EMS it has an awesome pricipal, an awesome counceling program but lacks paren't support, teacher support, and even a small amount of undesireable amount of students who can ruin the system of creating a well nurtured enviroment, edgewood has the things its needs to succeed but there needs to be more parent involvement =)

I have a child who has just graduated EMS. It is a wonderful school. All a child at Edgewood needs is to be focused. Regarding the probation officer I must say: Get over it!! It is not as all students have a probation officer.Overall Edgewood is a good school with devoted teachers.

it is so sad how poor this middle school is comming, 1 its on program improvement, 2 pleanty of bullies 6th graders can think of,3 teachers don't care,4 students are fighting during class,5 parents are involved in influening the children to fight when others say hateful words,6 A MIDDLE SCHOOL THAT REQUIRES A PROBATION OFFICER!!Unbelieveable!!!

My child is new to this school. His grades have dropped (very much). I'd like to understand the grading system better. The most supportive staff member has been his counselor. However, there is only so much she can do. Other than that I am pretty lost as to where my child is at, academically. I feel as if the teachers do not care too much, and they do not know children too well. In my opinion that makes a huge difference in a child s academic performance and self esteem. My child often comes home describing fights between other students. Children are fighting in the classroom, during lunch, and outside school. There are too many students and not enough staff.

pleanty of music choir and art programs and pleanty of unmature behavoir in classrooms, students take advantage and rudely talk back to teachers to the point where teachers have cried and given up. this school needs inprovement students need an attitude change. students fight too often. many students have used to much prfanity in classrooms directly at a teacher and get sent to the office to sit for 15 min and then go back to class and ruin the educational experience and put others down with hateful words. if your not in honors then your class is basically disasterious and madness with no learning whatsoever or cooperation with students and teachers. this school was condsidered to be a charter school recomended by the district due to no cooperation. NO PARENT INVOVLMENT WHATSOEVER nobody cares basically. also teachers play the game with students about who gets the last word.

the school campus is huge for an ordinary middle school and has great band pograms and choir pograms that really excell. the teachers are deticated to make sure students achieve high standards of learning.A problem that ruins the school reputation is mainly too many fights happening during the lunch period and security takes long to break up fights which results in more chances of serious damage when students fight but concenquences every year get stricter about fighting hopefully to make a tremendous diffrence in what students think before they take in their own actions. fridays when music and games are held on the stage located in the quad are great ways to add positiveness into students.

This school is very educated. The teachers are experienced and well-trained. Many teachers help their student with getting into high school and even college.

The teachers are amazing and they try to get get to know students to help them learn basic concepts. The Algebra I and 8th Grade Language Arts Programs are the best in the city. Students have fun at school and enjoy many extra curricular activites. These include many sports, performance groups, and leadership classes. The administration works closely with students and their parents to help ensure a successful middle school career. I would recomend this school to anyone in the West Covina area. Class of 2006

Strong school, and improving every year over all. Teachers work effectively in department and interdisciplinary teams. Excellent music and art programs. PTSA is large, and parent events draw large crowds.

The schoolwork and the grades do not add up. I felt the teachers were not holding the students up to a reasonable standard. My daughter graduated this year (05)and the work was below standard, however her grades were above standard. I could not understand why. When I questioned the teachers, I didn't get any answers.

The teachers are not bad, a typical mix of some excellent and some poor. The primary problem I see with this school is poor administration. Grade cards are frequently late. Requests for parent conferences go ignored. Any type of paper work from the school to the parents is often late, incomplete or just not forthcoming. The principal seems intent on raising test scores and 'rallying' the students. In speaking with him he seems shallow and uncaring. When confronted at conference night by angry parents (many of whom did not get notices, but heard by word of mouth) the principal would not directly answer questions. He repeated several times that the notices were supposed to have been sent out. He did not apologized, or much worse - seem to have any interest in finding out why the serious error occurred and correcting it. Simple review - medicocre school, okay staff and a terrible principal.
