We moved to Clear Sky this year and have had the most wonderful experience! Coming from a charter school in our previous town, we weren't sure what to expect. We have 3 children currently at Clear Sky and can say that the classrooms are smaller than at our charter (all under 25). The teachers are amazing and really care about the students! The principal is so involved and is always available if you have concerns. The school has a very "community" feel. My kids love the project based learning! I have 3 very different children and I notice that each of their needs are getting met at this school (one struggles in math, one is super advanced, etc). I've been absolutely blown away by this school and we feel very blessed to be at Clear Sky!

My experience at CSE has been wonderful! I cannot deny the fact that the classroom sizes are huge, but this truly is a wonderful school. My son is a kindergartener this year and has been struggling with developmental delays. We recently moved here from Dallas- I can not even begin to explain how awful inner city Dallas schools are. His teacher at CSE has been a tremendous advocate for my son- thanks to her, my son is receiving speech therapy, occupational therapy, and he is working with a reading specialist and a learning specialist. They do a fantastic job of keeping me informed and have help multiple multidisciplinary meetings with me to discuss his progress. My son adores his teacher and I am thrilled with his growth.

Terribly overpopulated. The environment the children learn in is filthy. No one cleans that school! Children fall through the cracks because the classroom population is extremely too large. Some of the teachers I've spoken with are overwhelmed and underpaid. A child was hit by a car last year because of the mass exodus of cars picking children up from this school. The crossing guards are out helping children for only 5 minutes. Do not allow your kiddos to walk to this school. If they arrive 6 minutes early, there is no crossing guard. My children will not be returning next year.

We have had an amazing experience at CSE. Yes it is over crowded but that's not the school fault it's all the new building that's gone up. The District is to blame they need to rewrite boundary lines. I'm so sorry to read the previous posts so I wish to address them This school year we do have a huge enrollment & the 3rd graders are in the trailers. The last few years it's been the 5th or 6th graders. So I think personally that having 3rd out there is better cause they are smaller bodies. ideally if we didn't need them it would be better but with all the housing growth in the meadows it's inevitable. Regarding Mrs Y I don't know your experience but ours was nothing short of amazing my daughter loves & misses her. We had her last school year. I love all of the staff & couldn't ask for better administration they work so hard for the CSE families with over 800 students they are stretched thin but even with all that on there plates they are amazing & sorry to hear you feel different. I just feel it's so sad that our society is so quick to post the negative reviews & the people who are happy don't speak up. We are extremely happy we have been at CSE for 3 years & they have been great.

We moved to Castle Rock last year, after building a new home close to Clear Sky. Our children have attended only one semester so far, and we have been sorely disappointed. When you call with an issue, and are told they will get back to you, they don't. It took 5 days to get an appointment with the principal, and after they placate you with the meeting, nothing is resolved. The two teachers that I have had experience with so far have been the only redeeming quality of the school. They both have a passion for teaching, and make the children a priority, which is huge. The mobile classrooms are tiny and dirty, and I am wondering how they pass fire code. With 30-35 people, desks, chairs and educational material it is a hazard, and they are dirty. There are layers of dust hanging off the vents in the ceiling, that our children are breathing in. When asked about occupancy capacity, the teacher had no idea. When a 48 pound 3rd grader can't fit between desk groupings, there is a HUGE problem. I would never recommend this school, as long as the administration that is currently running the school remains. We are currently looking into other options.

To the person below. My child has Mrs. Yoshioka as well this year. She has been nothing but amazing! My son loves going to school, and adores Mrs. Y. She is a great communicator, and has let us know about our sons struggles and accomplishiments. She has gone above and beyond to ensure my son gets the extra reading help that he needs. We have nothing but praise for Mrs. Yoshioka!!!! This is our second year at CSE and all three of our children have loved there teachers as well as Clear Sky! We have been very happy with their education!

We are new to the city and school, but the transition for our daughter to clear sky elementary has been seamless. She adores her teacher (Ms. Henn) and her reading and math has significantly improved in just 4 months. My only complaint is that the school is so large, it is hard to get to know other parents. This is especially difficult for us as we came from a small preschool and from out of state. Still, we love how well first grade has gone thus far. Our daughter loooooves school, learning, and being "bison strong" - and that is priceless!

To the last parent who wrote in...I'm so sorry for your bad experience. My daughter had Mrs. Sweeney last year and she was a sweetie who really loved her students!! As a teacher myself, there is NO excuse for bad teaching and cruel behavior...I don't care how many students you have in a classroom. Both my children have had an awesome experience but then again we didn't have Mrs Y. I do agree with you and something should be done! So sorry for how your child was treated.

This school is a perfect fit for my daughter, who is going into 1st grade and her second year at Clear Sky. The teachers are always open to speak with you and beloved by the kids. My only issue has been with the office secretaries who seem to be rude but they are still helpful. The kids are rewarded for good behaviors and anti-bullying is actually made part of the curriculum with student made posters all over school. Love this school and I'm looking forward to the next 6 years here.

My children have been attending CSE for 5 years, and we could not have asked for a better school experience. Funny that other posts have mentioned that there are so many kids--there are--BUT, the number of children in each class are equal to, or, in many cases LESS, than other schools in the county. The majority of classes have not only a main teacher, but a full-time assistant teacher, greatly lowering the student-to-teacher ratio. This year the school made the switch from Everyday Math to Envision Math, which we LOVE! Also, all classes do ability grouping (which they have done from the start), and you will constantly see resource teachers, EAs, or parent volunteers working in the hall with children who need extra time and attention. Speaking of which, unlike Charter Schools, volunteering is NOT required at CSE, yet we consistently are one of the top schools with parent volunteer hours, and that is only based on hours that are volunteered in the school, not on providing snacks, meals for teachers, or supplies for the classroom--those extra things are done out of love and support for our school, not because we need to log volunteer hours. We LOVE Clear Sky Elementary!!!

Disappointing. We have only spent one year at Clear Sky, so our perception is admittedly skewed. But in the one year, we have seen an overcrowded school, lackluster administration with poor communication, and scarce parental involvement. Our child did have very good teacher and we definitely saw improvement throughout the year. But my overall feeling is that the school is just getting by, not thriving.

My two daughters have been at Clear Sky for the last 2 years and I couldn't be happier! The class sizes are large, but the teachers make time to interact with students individually. My girls spend much of their class time working in small groups, often with additional teachers that float between multiple classes. Both of my girls are above grade level in reading and math, but have been consistently challenged. Their teachers keep us informed of what is happening in class and how we can help reinforce the ideas that are being taught. I also appreciate the time each child spends learning from specialists in Art, Music, PE, Science, Technology, Health, and the Library. As others have mentioned, Mr. Neville is often interacting with students and is a good representative of the administration. Principal Roe makes a point to answer questions and keep parents informed through e-mails and monthly open houses. This is a relatively new school (opened in 2008) in a rapidly growing neighborhood and some people may have experienced the growing pains as the school finds its place, but I am thankful to have a school full of such a talented and caring staff.

This school is not good at all. From teachers talking down to students based on their abilities, giant class sizes, only having a C rating based on the Colorado testing and much more. Also, we had issues with the administration with them not resolving some serious issues we had. Pulled our daughter out of there for a charter school and will never ever look back. Good riddance. There are a few good teachers but they are powerless based on the sheer number of students in their classes.

Our experience at Clear Sky has been wonderful thus far. The principal and assistant principal sincerely love the kids and base their decisions on what is best for the students first, as well as the teachers and community. True, the school is large.... but their class sizes have been kept intentionally lower than many other schools in the county, which isn't recognized by many. The teachers work diligently, putting their hearts into their craft daily and should be treated accordingly. They are responsive to concerns and have always been willing to work with us in any way possible. The administration is also open and welcomes input from parents and teachers. Yes, the area is continuing to grow, but if we all support their efforts Clear Sky faculty and students can be best in Castle Rock.

Agree with the Nov. 28th review if you do you research you will see that Clear Sky is one of the top 2 most populated schools in DC. This does have a ripple effect.

The school is at capacity and bursting at it's seams. Class sizes are very large and one teacher per classroom. Ability grouping, you can forget about that, they attempt to group but there are too many kids with different abilities and only one teacher. No rhyme or reason as to which group gets the attention and when. I'm sure this is the norm at many schools, but it's really, really bad at CSE. Chaos and a disorganized approach at CSE. A new Math program adds to the chaos. It gets worse and worse every year, in large part due to the massive volume of students per class. We have lowered our expectations considerably when it comes to a education at Clear Sky. Consider your other options, we are. I think it's going to get worse as the population grows and we continue taking students outside of the school's boundaries.

There are some really great teachers and then there are some not so great apples, especially with over 300 teacher leaving Douglas County. The front office staff are not the most welcoming. The VP Mr. Neville, is the best when it comes to administration. It it not what I expected. The school facility is great. But be warned it is over populated, way more students here then any other school in Douglas county. Look at all the houses being built around the school and how fast the Meadows is growing. Some class sizes have over 30 students, I believe the avg is 27. The school fluctuates between 1st and 2nd place being the most populated school in Douglas County. I know plenty of parents that have pulled their child from the school in the last year. Kids are falling between the cracks and some teachers are too stressed. Some of the best teachers have left the school. There is a lot going on with the teachers union in the county too.. Some of the best schools are lottery based...you can try to open enroll somewhere else. You will see the VP with the kids often, forget about the principal.

My child has been attending Clear Sky since it opened. I could not be happier. When we went to enroll our child I was expecting a lot of red tape, like it was in California. The office staff seemed to come off rude, as mentioned in other posts, but only because I expected enrollment to be more of an issue than it is. There is nothing to it, except to sign up and go to class. The office doesn't have anything but basic info until your child is enrolled and has a classroom. My child has been at or above grade level every year, all the teachers have been great to work with. They instantly answer questions in person or email. Most every parent shows up for conferences, that never happened in Californa. Maybe about half. Most all parents I have met are invested in their childs education. Thats what makes it a great school. Most I talk with reinforce whats going on in the classroom at home. Critical for success at any school. Teachers are at the school to teach cirriculum, and the parents teach the kids how to learn. It's a great partnership at Clear Sky.

I am moving my life and family to Castle Rock from Las Vegas because the school district is ranked in the country's top 10. My expectations may have been too high, because the first two people I have spoken with...registrar and front desk...don't seem friendly at all. Any recommendations for working with them?

For the most part, the school and teachers are great. My kids love it there. However, the front office could you a house cleaning. They are very unfriendly and snobbish. I have never seen a school office like it. The school could definitely use some friendly team members to greet parents and visitors!

I have 3 children at clear sky and have yet to have a bad experience with anyone there. All of the office staff is very friendly and helpful. I can see how one of the staff can be misconstrued and possibly be viewed as unfriendly, but I think she was put in that position to fill in for the lady prior to her, who was killed. The principle and asst. principle are The principle and asst. principle are very nice and handle the children well, they make an effort to get to know the parents and are extremely qualified. The teachers as well as the special Ed teachers are very qualified and are very good with the kids (as well as the parents). Communication from the school as well as the district has always been great too.

I am 100% with the other 1 star review. The staff is cold and rude. We were new to the area and this is the only school we can go to even though the other school available, (soaring hawk), is equidistant to our house. I wanted to have my daughter attend school there because they are still doing half days for Kindergarten. Well they won't work with you either though the lady was very nice. I wish there were other options. I have no idea about principals I did not get that far. We're now homeschooling.

Agree with the following comment with the exception of the assistant vice principal: 'The office staff is cold as ice. Lacks the warmth that you would like to see in an elementary school.'

I have two children at CSE, each of whom came to the school from another elementary within the district. My children have demonstrated a great deal of growth since entering the school, a testiment to the CSE staffs hard work and commitment to kids. Furthermore,I find them to be very compassionate and knowledgeable, but more importantly, they establish and foster positive relationships with kids. My children absolutely love the teachers! I consistenly receive communication from the staff with respect to upcoming events, announcements, as well propt notification of an absence, should I fail to call the school. Overal, I have been very pleased with CSE.

Very disappointed with this school. Very unorganized. The office staff is cold as ice. Lacks the warmth that you would like to see in an elementary school. My child's teacher continually falls asleep in class, is absent all of time and brings their personal woes to school. Unfortunately with the lack of attention that the top administration pays to the school things will never get any better.
