I drive from Fort Carson to Chipeta every day. It is a good school and worth the drive. I have one son who is doing well in his classes (4th grade) and my other son (2nd grade) has needed extra help. The teachers have gone above and beyond to ensure my youngest son is advancing while challenging my oldest son to meet his full potential. Both boys tell me every day when I pick them up that they had a great day at school. I can also clearly see academic growth in both children.

We were very unhappy at this school. As an educator, I'm always suspicious when the school's test scores are touted as the badge of honor. It can mean the teachers are teaching to the test. It's possible that's not the case here, and I know there were amazing teachers we weren't fortunate to experience the year we were there. The school itself is good overall, but do your research. As a military family, I didn't see any accommodations made for explaining their math program to new students. It can be a great program...if you never move, and are there from K-6!! Administration always met with us about problems, but nothing was ever visibly accomplished. We moved away in '09, but our child lost a year of academics, and I had to tutor her extensively after our experience at Chipeta.

I am also very unhappy with Chipeta. The administration and parents are very unfriendly. My child has been negatively affected by this and will be attending another school. To the admin and parents: ''you r not all that.''

I have found that the principal and teachers at Chipeta are always willing to meet and discuss any problems or issues that a child might have. No school is ever perfect, but the staff at Chipeta seems to go out of their way to make sure that my child's needs are met.

I am very unhappy at Chipeta. They are very unfriendly and uncooperative. It is really sad that my son is beginning to hate school now. It's sad that the test comes before the child. I have not heard one positive thing so far this year, but plenty of negative.... I am very unhappy.

My son has been attending Chipeta for three years. We have loved the staff, teachers and administration. He has excelled in all areas and has had his needs met. We especially liked his second grade teacher, Mrs. Tuttle. The PTA is strong here and do an excellent job organizing events and fundraisers. Wow! We are so sad to be moving to Alabama and realize it will be hard to find a school there that can compete with this quality of education! Thanks Chipeta!

My children attended Chipeta and are happy, high-achieving students at the middle school and high school now. The attention and instruction they recieved at Chipeta was top-notch. The school currently has an intervention system that helps teachers meet the needs of all children, at both extremes. The gifted and talented teacher there is on site full-time and is contributing to some award-winning thinkers.

This is our first year at Chipeta and I am thrilled with what we have found here. After attending another elementary school in the district for a couple of years, I was beginning to think D-11 was the problem. Chipeta has restored my faith. From the custodial staff to the principal this school is fantastic. It makes me wish I were a kid again.
