Teacher effectiveness: Very ineffective

Not at all standard in the middle school and upper school. The teachers do not really come up with productive Homework pieces. They sometimes do not have any homework at all allocated for students. Very expensive school, but not really worth for the money you spent.

There is no context for the Home work given most of the time. They are not centered around academic development, they are focused on developing your general life. Parents are hosting social events most of the time. Not seen a standard exam test paper for past 5 years. School consists of teachers kids and admin staff members kids.

School doesn't follow a standard syllabus. Students and teachers love the comfort zone provided at Ricks. There are no state exams.

Some parents too mentioned that middle school students do not blend well. It's only a limited number of students unlike other competitive schools where you need to be in the waiting list. This is what it makes to a certain level secure environment with limited few struggling kids. School Management has posted so many posts about the school undergoing the change to attract student to to run the school as there are only 15 students in certain grades as a whole currently. Students corner others due to social issues, if you do not go for social events you are out of the clique.

Ricks never promotes academic growth if your student is an advanced learner. It suppresses your knowledge.School is filled with all Ricks admin staff children. You doubt how the giftedness is measured. On the other hand public challenge school down Missipi Avenue is a dream for student who go to this school. It is incorrect to declare a school which doesn't promote academic competency as a gifted school. It promotes societal issues. If a kid doesn't spend his/her time productively will keep talking advanced stuff only. This is the concept that is harnessed here. Not academic growth. If your child studies at Grade 3 here. He or she will fit in Grade 3 in other public or private schools. Compare this schools any syllabus with any other Colorado Common Core syllabus you will be very worried as they do not know how to take an exam even.

Mrs. Suzzanne is a caring teacher for KG. She couldn't do much academically as the school is very low standard with academically struggling students. Some students in KG cannot afford to read a level 1 book or write a complete sentence. But she is trying her best to help out the students who can perform higher. Parents really need to coach your kid if you want to be competitive like other similar grade kids in other schools.

Teachers instill lot of incorrect study habits in kids by postponing home work due to majority of the poor struggling students. On parent visits students are trained to look at advanced math questions while parents walk by once you get in you realize you are two years below the standard. It's not possible for you to move your kid on to Grade 9 with confidence to other schools as your kid is way below the standard. In other schools while you are in a current Grade level and your kid is above the level, your kid is given an opportunity to study in upper grade class for those subjects. Here you sit in the class with majority of struggling kids who have had a good fun part day before or a sleep over. Some kids return the Math worksheets that are way below the standard when compared to other schools with question marks to teachers.

School doesn't follow a curriculum and adhoc chooses literary texts and Math texts which doesn't get aligned with the Colorado Common Core guidelines. The Math standard is very low when compared to other schools of the same Grade level. Other core subjects such as History and Science are not at all taught. There is a concept named Units and focus on a topic which involves hours of web browsing unguided and one very well disciplined student will over achieve and rest of them will gain nothing. If you do not spend time studying it's possible to talk day life concepts in an advanced manner. This is all what you gain from this school. Limited number of students in classes with various societal issues, which are not the resultant of giftedness, but due to high society. Teachers do not know how to evaluate the students, tries to always suppress students and the management says we meet the academic requirement of each individual by assigning Text books which are higher standard after so many requests, but which too are self taught by the students. The concept of meeting the requirements of Advanced learner is done in other schools is by moving the student to the next class to study for those subjects, here it's you do self study. So many social events, no academic competitions at all. After going here you feel that you cannot move your kid to another school as well as the teachers do not write a proper teacher reference. School is filled with the kids of all admin and teaching staff kids, which makes you doubt on measuring the giftedness. Wastage of money for 2 years and finally an eye opener. SCHOOL MANAGEMENT CLEARLY STATED TO US IN SEVERAL MEETINGS THAT WE DO NOT PROMOTE COMPETITIVE EDUCATION. The outgoing director stated clearly that the school culture is allow students to self learn.

Develops respect: Disagree

The school doesn't develop any respect in it's students as the school has only a bunch of kids with various societal issues who encourage higher social skills. No academic growth at all. No curriculum followed. The school dean says all matters are school teacher and director matters and the school teachers are not competent to take fair decisions.
