Too tight of control over students and perhaps over teachers. The leadership needs to learn how to implement gradual release for students. Think military academy that never gets better.

About this school

DSST: Byers serves more than 450 6-8 graders from across the city, and accommodates a growing urban student population. A college prep focus, with an emphasis on developing students through liberal arts learning, is the foundation of academics. Students succeed through structured classroom environments with clear expectations. After completion of our program, students will be prepared for rigorous high school instruction and, ultimately, for the rewarding challenges of a college education.
