Traylor has the feel of a small community school, with certain benefits that come from being part of a large public school system. The parent and community support of this school, along with the fabulous staff are what makes it the jewell of DPS. It is a fundamental academy, so not for everyone, but all students receive a good, solid education. There is music and library 2x per week, art, P.E. everyday, plus many optional programs including choir, band/orchestra, and various clubs. The parent involvement at Traylor (Traylor Academy Boosters - TABs) make a very good school phenominal!
This is an Excellent DPS School. We landed Denver on a temporary basis for 1 year. My son attended 3rd grade at Traylor. Enforcement of discipline and responsibilty created a fun learning enviroment for our son. Reinforcement is strong and supports the schools philosophy. My son learned subjects taught in traditional ways with strict standards. The parents and children are informed well about what is expected and the disipline latter that will be enforced. The code of honor was written, and followed which gave my son the opportunity to learn and grow. Traylor is filled with a wonderful and caring staff that just gets the job done!!! Tralyor also has great parent participation and a wonderful boosters program TABS! The principle is heavily involved and she was always present with an open door. State Accountability is high and above average. My sons teacher Exceeded Excellence! Thumbs up!
Traylor focuses on the individual child's education. This school works well with parents in determining the needs of the child and what needs to be done to assist this child in learning the most. There is something to be said about schools where children have a name, and they are not just a number. This is a well-run school, and the principal is a very caring and child-oriented individual. She works well with teachers and parents so that everyone involved is focused on getting the child the education that he or she needs and deserves. The community surrounding this school is extremely supportive. The parents know each other well and provide a positive learning and community enviornment for these children. The level of parent involvement in this school increases the safety factor of the school. Everyone looks out for each other.
