CWP has great students, teachers, and a great prinicple. Overall CWO is part of a great community and my children have all enjoyed their time here and learned a great deal.

Cottonwood is generally a good enough school. Our biggest issue has been that the TAG (Talented and Gifted) program is really a status symbol rather than a program designed to meet the needs of gifted kids. Cottonwood grossly overidentifies kids as gifted. It seems like 1/4 of the students at this school are labeled 'gifted' which makes for a program that doesn't meet the needs of kids who are really needing differentiated education.

Cottonwood Plains has provided an outstanding education to my children from K-5 with helpful and well educated staff, new, clean and up to date facilities and a variety of extra-curricular programs.

Overall I am quite pleased with the quality of education at CWP. We've been at Cottonwood through 3 different principals over 9 years (last in 2nd). Although there have been changes with the different leadership styles, the quality of education has remained consistently good. There're a wide variety of kids from differing socioeconomic backgrounds represented. This makes it challenging for the staff as not all of the kids are on the same page. So far every teacher has been good to excellent. The parental involvement is very high and volunteering is encouraged. There are a decent number of extra curricular activities for the kids--about what I would expect at this level. There is talented and gifted program available to challenge the high performing students. When my kids moved on the middle school, they were significantly underchallenged because of the challenging TAG program at CWP. Great school.

The new principal is certainly an improvement over the prior one. The culture at the school has improved. The curricula is adequate for an average child, but nothing special. High achieving students get some enrichment in a pull-out program, but most teachers are unable to differentiate in the classroom enough for a child who needs significant acceleration and not just some minimal added enrichment.

There has indeed been a turnover in staff including the principal. However, let me assure you that it has bounced back! Cottonwood is better than ever! The new principal is fabulous and is not only involved with each student but their parents as well. He has brought a wonderful working environment back to our school and it shows on each students face! I encourage anyone that is looking for a wonderful learning environment to move into the Cottonwood Plains area so you can feel the 'new' atmosphere as well!!

Had both of our children at the school from k to 5th and k to 3rd. Most of the teachers were unable or unwilling to take the lead roll in the future of the children. Now have them in poudre schools. Big change fro the better.

The principal is not a good leader & does not relate well to parents. The teacher quality varies. Unfortunately, some of the better teachers have left recently.
