I am very unimpressed with the accountability of the staff of this school. It takes a special person to teach in this type of setting and I feel that they fall very short in this school. The teachers tend to typecast the children and have very little accountability for their actions as adults and leaders

For a numbers of years I have had the honor of substituting at Lorraine. I have seen many many children entire the facility angry, angry at the world and down on themselves. And so far behind academically, that it makes one realize what a blessing it is that we have the academic realization to become teachers. Through the compassion, love, and hardwork of the staff, many of these youngsters turn almost completely around. They quickly find their self-worth. They learn to trust in themselves, their peers, and in the staff. Many of them, through the marvelous Discovery program, lose their anger and find that they can be happy; that they are worthy of being loved. And, with the determination of the staff, many of the students improve dramtically in their academics. It is so wonderful to watch these young people grow and thrive and go on to graduate high school.

This is a good school for a student who has had trouble in a regular high school setting. Students get more one on one from teachers. The teachers are also really good with the students. This school does not offer exteracurriclar activities but students are allowed to do the extracurricular activites that are offered by Fountain Fort Carson High School.
