As someone else here says, this school has been life-changing for our son. The personalized instruction, combined with high expectations and high level of total acceptance have made his self-esteem blossom. A child with significant speech/language delays; he sings in the choir! My favorite unexpected perk has been the way the 'big kids' accept and help the little ones; they've all been there.

We moved across the country for Havern, and it was the best move I have made as a parent. I do not say that lightly. As a teacher, with a degree in neurobiology and experience teaching science and special needs children, I am SO grateful for what they provide. Havern provides expertise in complicated learning profiles and the environment and methods that create success. That is a RARE find in today's school systems. My son has gone from shutting down academically, to being a leader in his class. Seeing his smile and sense of accomplishment is such a welcome relief. He is no longer defined by his learning difficulties, rather by his dreams for what's to come.

My son went to Havern Middle School for three years. My wife and I consider ourselves very fortunate that he had that opportunity; Public Schools were a disaster. Not only did Havern lay the foundation for a successful transition into High School, but also the foundation of self-knowledge to accept and work on his disabilities while not being confined by them. Currently he is preparing himself for college - and yes - there are hurdles but he knows they are surmountable.

Life Changing!!... for my daughter and for our family. This is our first year at Havern. In a few short months, it became very clear to me that we had found the right school. We witnessed such a change in her self esteem and her growth as a student. She is finally in a learning environment where she can experience success. The instructors and staff are qualified, dedicated and really understand how to teach my child. This has been our first successful school year, academically and emotionally. My daughter now knows, even with her LD, that she can learn and can succeed.

We have two children that attend Havern and it has made a tremendous difference in their lives and our family. They are both succeeding at learning, social skills and life!!! The staff cares about our children's day from sun-up to sun-down, and provides an abundance of resources when problems do arise. Watching our children learn and thrive is one of many gifts Havern has given us.

For a small specialized school they are extremely unprofessional. The environment is extremely loose. Kids with feet on desks...self paced structured learning.

This school is remarkable! We went to three schools and watched our son struggle at each one. We have never met a team of professionals who have worked harder to make our son succeed. This school matters--from the top down. I have never met a more dedicated principal.

Havern is one of those truly special schools that combines professional excellence with a caring and supportive environment. I chose Havern after looking at 10 LD schools in four states (my family relocated from Egypt to place our son in a LD school). Havern educates the whole child--speech, occupational and social skills therapy is included and integrated into the curriculum! No more piece-meal therapy and running around with a tired child after school to one therapy/tutoring appointment after another! Since attending Havern, my son is thriving. His reading has just gone through the roof and I have never seen him happier or more confident. Havern is a life changing institution that has made our future so much brighter.

Here is an excerpt from my parents' response to my son's progress report: 'We are very impressed and pleased by the good report on (our grandson) from his school. He is doing good work and we know that Havern has provided just the right environment for his growth. Please tell him to keep up the good work and that his grandparents are proud of him. I've never read a more thorough report on a student. The counselor or evaluator did not overlook one facet of our grandson s progress. Every penny being spent on his development is being rewarded in real life. Thank you for sending the evaluation to us. It is comforting to know that our grandson is engaged in such a program and such a helpful social and educational environment.

Havern has been terrific for our daughter. The class size is small, so children with learning disabilities are able to get the individualized attention that they need. The school also integrates speech therapy, occupational therapy, art, music and drama (including an annual school play).
