My child entered Westhill last year and we are very pleased with it. Yes, it is very large and there are some aspects of the student body that are not all that interested in being in school, but overall, the students are very involved with their classes and extracurricular activities. If your child is an honors or a/p student, they will be very challenged and have opportunities to take far more honors and a/p classes than at most public high schools and certainly at almost all private high schools. the college acceptance list from Westhill is very impressive. Given the size of the student body, when you factor in the college bound members of each class (and take those out who were not college-bound), you will be amazed at the matriculation statistics. we looked at those statistics before we enrolled our child and were VERY impressed. If however, your child is an average student or not college bound, the school may not be the best option.

I am currently a senior at this school and this school is definitely under under the standards of the education system. The school doesn't really help students with their future and only acts as a plain gateway to collage providing you no assistance. Most of the teacher are good but suffer due to the fact that they cant control their students. The other not so good teacher don't care about their students and don't go the extra mile to try to help them succeed. The school also seems to be behind in the curriculum seeing as to how most of my friends from other cities have already done before what i am currently learning. The school it self is also small not being able to support the rising number of students. Also the school doesn't have A/C throughout the whole school which really hurts the students and doesn't allow them to properly learn due to the heat. This school really need some strong improvements in many areas.

Westhill is an example of a failing educational system. Stemming from an administration and group of teachers too busy fighting disciplinary problems to bother with helping students reach their full potential. Basically the system is set up for students to fail not succeed which needs to change, students, parents, and teachers need to start to care

My son has only just entered his Freshman year and I can see that Westhill will keep him very challenged! Westhill's size and diverse population should prepare my son for working well with others. This year the Freshman class is isolated in its own, new building - a situation that I think will help Freshman acclimate to high school rigors. However, the administration needs to free up the class's mix of students so that each student does not spend its entire time with the same 25 kids. The teachers at Westhill show a true interest in the academic excellence their students should achieve. I have received regular email updates regarding trouble areas my son is facing which has allowed me to find him the help he needs in a timely fashion. I have yet to get a feel for the administration at Westhill but have no complaints so far.

As a recent graduate of the school, I think its an above-average school. The key is being willing to work hard. If you do, you will end up in the classes you want with the teachers you want, and there are some very good teachers in the school. Extracurriculars are decent--there's no lack of them, and what you take out of them is what you put into them. The school does have fights occasionally, but security puts a stop to them in a hurry, and as long as you aren't stupid, you will be able to avoid getting involved with them. The biggest issues with the school are its foreign language department, as well as its general dinginess. The facility itself could use renovation, but even that could be a lot worse.

It is only a mediocre school at best. The teachers there arent great compared to the other schools in the city. Most teachers there are really hard to understand, not that they are not smart about what they are teaching. But how the do things in the class keeps everyone oblivious. The extracurricular activities is only mediocre compared to its rival school. Safety isn't all that well, it really has gone down recently with all these school fights.
