Westover is a local treasure! With a highly diverse population, Westover gets children of all abilities to grow, and it consistently produces outstanding results. This school should be studied as a national model of how to do it right.

Our daughter is now in 3rd grade. When she started kindergarten, we felt like it was just ok. But soon found lots of changes in our daughter. The teachers are doing an excellent job, starting from kindergarten. The math teachers took special interest in their kids and spent extra time in tutoring all the kids before their CMT's. We are very proud to be a westover parent. The third grade showcase was awesome. This is our first experience viewing a showcase at westover. Hats off to the teachers and students for their fabulous performance. We love this school and wish they had middle and high school!! We would strongly recommend westover to anybody.

We are very pleased that we chose to send our children to Westover. In the spring of 2006, the Connecticut State Department of Education recognized Westover as one of the six best elementary schools in Connecticut, an honor that is well-deserved. Our family's district school is one of several Stamford schools classified as 'failing' under the No Child Left Behind Act. So we entered the magnet school lottery and were lucky enough to get into Westover. Though we were initally skeptical of the Westover 'hype,' we are very pleased with the school thus far (our twin sons are currently in 1st grade). The curriculum is strong and there's a great deal of parental involvement. Beyond this, Westover has a quality that is hard to name -- it a feeling you get, from the moment you walk through the door, that this is a confident and happy place for learning.

Excellent school - diverse population, small class size and very involved parents. Westover pushes the child to do their very best and the kids respond positively to this high level of expectation. My child attended Westover from Grades 1 through 5 and I only wish her Middle School was as focused on academics as Westover. She was definately more challenged and even had more opportunities for extracurricular activities in Westover. There were several before and after school mini-programs that enabled her to at least try different things and learn about what she likes and doesnt like to do. Westover is a Magnet School and most of the children had to enroll via a lottery system. I assume this is one of the factors for the high level of parental involvement but I believe it is one of the key factors in the success of this school.
