One of the best schools around.. Teachers so warm and friendly. Just all around greatness. When you are there, you feel as if you are part of their family.. Clean and quiet area of Torrington.
Great school...great staff...Field trips and activities are just fine. Besides, the education quality is far more important than the extras. And the lack of isn't due to PTO, it's due to most parents requesting they not happen due to cost. Most parents would rather have new books than yet another trip to Mystic or the apple farm.
The current Principal of East school is wonderful. My son went to Torringford's new bulding first and I have to say East school is much better even though the building is old - the teachers are wonderful. I am very pleased with the falculty. The only issues I have is lack of field trips and activities. Due to past PTO issues.
East is a good school. Better than others in the district. The only issue I have is their PTO. Teachers and staff basically allow them to come in and out of school, as though the rules for parents dont apply to them at all. A bit of favoritism I think.
East school is a good school. My only complaint or question is what is the tolerence for bullying? The Torrington school district doesn't do anything but turn their head the other way when it comes to bullying. Does something bad have to happen, for anything to be done.
Even though I attended East School over 10 years ago, I still clearly remember all the great times I had. The teachers are extremely dedicated to students and East School has excellent resources. There are constantly multi-dimensional, interactive learning opportunities for students within a classroom or for the whole school (such as the Olympics). I'd go back if I could.
