School Official Point of View

John Bassett Moore's curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Each grade-level department utilizes the same resources and curriculum and maintains appropriate instructional pace throughout the school year. Our teachers also participate in numerous professional development experiences in order to ensure consistent improvement. We provide instruction in the content areas of Reading, Grammar, Math, Science, Social Studies, and a variety of Related Arts courses to produce well-rounded students. In addition, JBM continues to meet and surpass the yearly targets established by the Department of Education in our yearly state assessment; a true testament to our school's success. We look forward to working with your children.

We had problems with teachers and the principal retuning e-mails. When my child had trouble in math we found the teacher was willing to complain to us but not willing to listen or respond to us when we talked to her. We asked another of my childs teachers to not give her candy but was ignored. It also seemed that the teachers taught the DCAS test and put a great deal of pressure on students to do very well instead of trying their best. I admit, the school was overcrowded. The district is building a new school to relive this problem. After the superior experience that we had with our child's elementry school, this school was a serious disappointment.
