I have found the school to go above and beyond in meeting my LS child's academic needs. They try to bring out the best in every child and treat them all individually. The new LS headmaster has been a great addition to an already terrific school. It is expensive, but you get a first class education on a beautiful campus with every special your child could have an interest in.
Education is fantastic, however, most of the students are flashy. Still, saint andrew's undoubtedly offers the best academics in the area.
As a parent of a lower school and middle school student, I fel this school is of the highest quality. The atmosphere is positive and challenging, and geared toward making the children feel successful and part of the comunity. School spirit is high, facilities can't be beat, and activities are varied and well done. Academics are good, and music program is amazing!
As the parent of a 2003 graduate I can clearly attest to the academic program at SA. My daughter was treated as an equal, earned, yes earned great scores the hard way, she worked for them. She graduated and is now attending UCF. She was happy and continues to be glad that she went there. As a parent, I am glad that she did not go to the local public school. While she would have done well anywhere, she has gotten the exposure that only a good independent school can give.
Academically, this school is top-notch. The teachers are enthusiastic and very accessible for parent conferences. A very big potential problem, however, is that the student body represents roughly the upper .00001% of America in terms of wealth. For a middle-schooler or teenager trying to fit in with peers, it can be very difficult coming from a middle-class or 'only' upper-middle-class household. Not the values I want to teach my child! We are transferring her to a private Catholoic high school next year b/c of it. The wealth is flaunted. Before sending your child here, think very carefully whether the academic program and excellent extracurriculars override the overwhelming sense of'entitlement' that pervades the campus atmosphere.
Great campus and well behaved students. College type freedom and everyone keeps an eye out for any trouble. All teachers well qualified. College prep. Sports are very good at this school. top lacrosse team in state. Beautiful pool area and growing basketball team. Large parent involvement. Donations are huge here. No pressure from faulty. Expensive, but good value comapred to other comparable schools in south Florida.
Fantastic teachers and curriculum! And sport program (especially lacrosse) is successful, well-organized, and motivating for students. I love this school.
Excellent program, good choices for the middle school kids, well rounded for the K-5 - good size classes 22-24.
Saint Andrew's school has a beautiful campus and offers many easily accessable resources to help students prepare for college. But, unlike other private schools, it doesn't have that strong family-oriented community. Rather, it has a diverse community, often rigorous academic schedule and independent college-like feel.
