My son has attended Grandview Prep since turning 3. He is in the Early Childhood class with Mr. Behrmann. I love the staff at Grandview, the personal attention he receives, as well as the overall community of the school. In his short time there, I feel my son's social skills have flourished. He is happy when coming and going, and he enjoys the enrichment opportunities available. Additionally, I have been very pleased with the swim class after-care. In just a few weeks, my son has become a more confident swimmer, which translates to a more relaxed time around water for me! Although I only see the other children in a limited sense, I continue to be impressed with the older students at the school who know my son's name, hold doors for me when I am on campus, and seem to be genuinely interested in learning and each other. In a very busy area, Grandview is a breath of fresh air with a caring, nurturing environment.

Grandview Prep is a wonderful school. I am proud to be a part of the caring and supportive staff that focuses its attention on each individual student. The staff and administration strive to create positive learning experiences while providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students and families. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such intelligent and nurturing people. I highly recommend all families to consider Grandview.

This small school offers a lot. My children have every opportunity to be involved in sports (no cut policy), student government, clubs, and community service. They have learned character and compassion through hands on House Activities. The teachers are caring and creative with the academics. Our family has been very happy with Grandview.

Grandview has been a dream come true when my two children started here, I love every single thing about this school. The teachers that teach at Grandview are so caring about your child and his/her schoolwork and education . If your child needs extra help after school it's there for them. The children all know each other and it feels like a big family instead of a school. There's never any bullying which now a days is such a big thing in schools ..I would never want my children to attend another school other than Grandview. This school so deserves FIVE stars !!!

A school yes! There is a building, there are teachers and books and buses too! Grandview Prep has all these things, which makes it a school. We are not only a school, we are team members working together for a common goal and that goal is our children, how they learn and what they learn and the resources in which they learn from. In this place each family is considered part of the Grandview Team. When you are here you don't want to leave...you feel as if you are already home.. To call it just a school is no way near what Grandview is. No matter your differences here at Grandview we all come together to nurture that common goal. Our children....I.Love this place.

Grandview Preparatory School is a small, diverse community committed to the philosophy that education is a personal endeavor. Grandview pairs timeless ethics with modern thought and personal attention with global consciousness while preparing students for college and life beyond. I am often asked what sets Grandview apart from other schools, and my answer usually centers on the fact that a Grandview education truly is a personal endeavor. Education in the modern world requires attention to the individual learner. In an increasingly impersonal era, it is uncommon to stand face to face, to talk one on one, and to listen heart to heart. At Grandview, the size of our school and the personal relationships among students, faculty, and families guarantee that no one is lost in a crowd. Grandview students develop strong leadership skills because leadership grows from confidence. Confidence grows from practice. Practice begins with participation. Our students participate in all aspects of school life, taking intellectual risks, challenging themselves in an effort to grow.

Grandview is so much more than a school. While the academics are vast and tailored to each student's needs, the attention to the student as a whole is immense. I feel blessed to be able to be a part of the Grandview family and think any child who attends is at a huge advantage.

One of the most important things about Grandview Preparatory in Boca Raton is the fact you can e-mail the teachers. They will respond, they care about the students. The school is small enough that they know each student by name. The school stresses learning the skills to work as a team, with students of all ages. I feel this is very important as we all need to know how to get along with others when we enter the work force, or anything else we choose to do in life. I am happy to say bullying is not tolerated- this was a problem in the large public school and no one seemed to have a solution there. I would rate this school very highly.

Grandview is a family. This small school offers children a warm, nurturing environment along with a solid learning atmosphere. It is nice to know that your child is never a number - everyone knows their name. From Pre-K all the way through to high school, the kids know and respect each other. It is also comforting to see that character building and creative thinking are valued along with academics. Teachers educate the whole child - and all of the various components - not just the part that can memorize the facts for the test. The extra-curricular offerings are fantastic with greatly successful middle and high school teams. Coaches have won state championships and trained Olympic athletes. Music, dance, theater and art offerings are exemplary. Kids have fun while they are learning and learn to have fun. Grandview is a great place to be a kid - or an adult. Teachers, children and parents alike are happy with the atmosphere at Grandview. Our children have thrived in this setting.

This is our second year at the school and we love it. I have kids in grade 4 and 5. The teachers are wonderful, helpful and all around fantastic. When there is an issue it is dealt with right away. Both of my children have commented on different teachers saying that they inspire them. The teachers are all very passionate. The only thing I wish is that there was lower school sports. I could not ask for a better school.

Our school Grandview Preparatory is warm loving and nurturing enviorment. The staff is amazing the teacher give 120% of themselves. The word no does not exsist, when it comes to the knowledge that each teacher gives to every student . The parents are always included and notified of every aspect of your child's education . I travel a long distance and it is worth every minute. My daugter loves school and is doing well. She made the Dean's List and has a 4.22 and that is honors classes. Also she plays 3 sports. They have a great athletic program and if your child needs help they are always there to help them along. Our family is proud and honored to call Grandview our school.

We have two kids at Grandview Preparatory School. Our younger student began last year and our older one started this year. We are very happy with all the school has to provide. They are receiving an excellent education, healthy lunch meals provided by a dining company, safe environment, enrichment galore, and learning to be great citizens! We love the small size classes and individual learning plans. Grandview Preparatory School is truly a gem. Families in the area should consider this school for their kids.We are glad that we did!

Hi I am a parent at Grandview, my daughter has been going to this school since 3rd grade, her achievement and her interest in school is sky high. She loves this school and is doing very well, she puts her 100%. Not only that my daughter loves this school but she feels like she's at home, and what I mean by that is that shes very comfortable at this school, the teachers, the students, the staff all know each other and if my daughter is walking to her next class a senior who who knows my daughter will say hi. This school is not only very friendly but, very family oriented, you feel like your at home. Its a loving environment. Everyone know everyone. Its a good feeling.

My kids (middle & high school) have been attending Grandview for 3 years and I can honestly say, for the first time, they LOVE school. The dedication of the teachers and staff is truly amazing. We were afraid that moving to a new state and a new school would be traumatizing but he wonderful, caring teachers and staff are the reason the transition was almost seamless. The classes are small which allows the teachers to give personal attention to the kids. If my kids need extra help in a class, their teachers always make themselves available to help them after school. The communication is second to none. I get lightning fast email responses, even at night and on the weekends! Yes - some of the teachers have kids who attend the school - this is common in any private school. Not once have my kids ever told me that the children of staff members get treated differently than anyone else. In a nutshell, Grandview not only offers a challenging curriculum and fabulous performing arts program , but also teaches values & self esteem so the kids grow up to be respectable, confident young adults, that are well prepared for what lies ahead after graduation.

Grandview Preparatory School is an exceptional private school. While there is a rigorous academic program at Grandview, the emphasis is on the capabilities of each individual student. The teachers are always available to discuss a student's progress and respond to emails promptly. The teachers and staff really care about each and every student. Teachers will provide extra help after school if necessary. There are fair disciplinary rules, and procedures in place. Students are given every chance to succeed. The principal, Jaqueline Westerfield, is an outstanding leader who guides the teachers and staff in a professional manner. The parents are given the chance to get involved in GAP, volunteer activities and in other ways. Grandview is a close-knit caring group of teachers, students, parents and staff that are not only focused on excelling in academics, but in personal development and moral character as well.

It is an honor and a privilege to be able to write about Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton, FL. They provide a setting that enables each child to develop into the best person he or she can be. They provide a setting that goes way beyond the class room. They make sure that each individual is not just prepared for college but prepared for life. I believe the biggest critics in the world with regards to any educational institution are the students themselves. When asking my son how do you like Grandview, his answer was simple " I love it".

There is no other school like Grandview in Boca. Exceptional staff and the campus is beautiful. This school goes beyond basic academics and really focuses on the child as a whole. Their character virtue program this year is amazing and they are always looking for new and exciting ways to teach the students. One of our favorite things is the House Color system. This bridges the gap between the lower and upper schools and the kids love it! We've been here 3 years and we are very pleased.

I have been an employee at Grandview for 8 years. In addition to being an employee, my granddaughter is enrolled here in the 9th grade. She has been here since 3rd grade. Grandview has allowed her to flourish as a student and as a person. Her teachers through the years have been outstanding in, not only their teaching methods, but personally as well. They are all compassionate, understanding, helpful when needed, and care about their students. My granddaughter always tells me that she adores her teachers and she loves being a student at Grandview. In addition to the academics, Grandview has the most amazing dance program, arts program, performing arts program and offers private music instruction as well. We have a Director of Guidance who is absolutely incredible with her knowledge and expertise in guiding our high school students as they prepare for their college years. As a staff person at Grandview, it is a pleasure to work with all the people who make up the Grandview family. And that is how we feel about Grandview. We are a family. We have two young boys ages 4 and 5 and started them both at the same time at Grandview Preperatory School (GPS) earlier this year. We chose GPS because we were looking for a school whose focus is on community as much as it is on academics. We fell in love right away after meeting the teachers, administration, and also other parents who had kids attending GPS. Since starting the school year we have been impressed on every level, but the most important validation for us has been the feedback from our two precious boys. Out of the blue, they remind us again and again how much they love school, their teachers and friends. They are enjoying the challenging atmosphere that is provided in a loving environment. This is a small school and your child will not get lost in the focus but become and integral part of what the school believes in, and that's character. We look forward to many productive and enriching years and being an active part of the community. Sincerely, Ianca Flores

Grandview Prep (GVP) is an outstanding school-highly engaged teachers, involved parents, strong athletics & extracurricular activities all set on a safe, beautiful campus. My daughter graduated from GVP in 2012 and my son, who has attended since his Freshman year, is currently a Sr. Throughout their lives we have moved several times so we have experience with different schools. I've seen the difference a school can make in my kids lives. As a parent I wanted my children to attend a school that helps bring out the best they can be in all facets of life - academics, social, sports, ethics, communication - all important. My kids were average students until they enrolled at Grandview. My daughter graduated 2nd in her class and is now in her 2nd year at a highly ranked university. She was well prepared. My son is ranked similarly in his class. I never had to "coerce" them to do schoolwork; the teachers evoke an enthusiasm in them I had never seen before. Perhaps more important, I have seen them grow into genuinely good, confident young adults. I have to credit GVP's leadership, teachers and community for that. I'm fortunate to have found GVP for my children.

We just wanted to write a review to let everyone know how grateful to be part of Grandview. We have the best experience ever with our three children. Academically ( best education ) We have moved around a lot our kids attended many different public and private schools, Grandview have the highest academic and of the moral & loving environment students enjoy. Well mannered kids respect themselves and others and ask more of themselves with the positive attitude they get in school. Grandview has a great Principal along with Teachers & Staff who not only exhibit high integrity but also a caring and loving heart for each individual child .Grandview Preparatory School has it all we recommend it to everyone its a wonderful experience.

First of all, let me say that every single bad review about Grandview is completely false. I have been going there for 7 years, and my experience has been nothing but positive. The teachers truly care about our education, and I have not heard one iota of this supposed drama mentioned in the negative reviews. The Academics have helped me to excel, and I strongly feel I have flourished academically and socially. There are many options as far as extracurricular activities go, and the Performing Arts Department is simply amazing. Athletics are superior as well. No matter what your specific interest, Grandview is a fantastic school.

Drama, gossip and more drama. I have never seen anything more unprofessional like it in a teaching staff or dance teacher. Our children will not be back next year. The administration does not seem to know what takes place in their own offices. Responsiveness from head faculty is poor.

My three children enrolled at Grandview when the school opened in 1997. They each had an excellent education that not only taught them well academically, but also encouraged and developed confidence and self-expression. After graduating from Grandview in 2002, 2004 and 2007, each of them successfully attended and graduated from a large university, with one of my children going on to earn an MBA. Currently, my two older grandchildren attend Grandview in the Early Childhood and kindergarten classes; when my youngest grandchild turns three years old, he, too, will attend this school. I can recommend Grandview without qualification based on sixteen years of personal experience -- children attending this school feel a warmth and caring that cannot be measured, but which allows them to learn and grow in the best available environment.

School is wonderful. Nurturing, caring environment. My daughter did very well. Math teachers are very rigorous. My daughter was in the advanced math classes there and did exceptionally well. Teachers work very had to explain difficult concepts and teach solid leaning strategies for college. Her success next year in college will be a tribute to the excellent teaching at Grandview.

Grandview Prep is a school run by parents of students. Since it is a small school, check the ratio of teachers/staff to students to whom they are related. Nepotism is abundant here. In our experience, emphasis is placed on students that are children or relatives of teachers, administrators or staff. It is a small school so it is not easy for students to fall through the cracks, but they do. There is no excuse. My advice is to seek a place that genuinely cares for your child and not treat them merely as funds for their school to operate for their own families.

This is our second and last year to have our child at Grandview, and we are not alone, as many parents have already changed schools mid year this year due to a lack of academic rigor. While the school clearly excels at sports (winning state championships, etc.) and has a great arts programs (including the music and dance programs), it seems to be at the expense of academic excellence and accountability in other areas. The headmistress has no formal background, training, or certifications in education or administration, and it shows. The head of the lower school has not demonstrated the ability to lead or mentor teachers or hold teachers accountable to high quality instruction and lesson planning, and the school continues to cut headcount-including the part time curriculum director. The poor leadership has contributed to poor teacher quality and sub par academic programs. There is a fair amount of teacher turnover and both teachers and parents are frustrated with the lack of consistency, communication, and execution from the administration. It's too bad-it truly seemed like a school with great potential, but it seems more like a "grand view". . .vs a "grand follow through".

Poor, poor academics at Grandview. As of today, March 2013, the school has posted information on this site about the arts programs, sports and athletic programs, and other extracurricular activities, but nothing about the curriculum or teaching/learning methods used for teaching reading, writing, math, social studies, science, or foreign languages. And, no surprise-nothing posted about test scores that would indicate how well they are teaching the academic subjects above. That is a pretty good indication of school's priorities.

I am a student that attends Grandview and am so lucky to go to a school like this. I would never want to attend another school. It may not be perfect, but the teachers are great and act as another family to everyone. The comments by some of these parents are misleading and untrue. There are kids that are graduateing that have been to this school since lower school. This school is great.

A great small school with loads of extras. We feel like we are part of a community at Grandview. Arts and athletics are huge and everyone is supportive. The teachers are professional and proactive and the students are courteous respectful of each other and adults. Despite what a previous reviewer said, the older students are polite, bright, and get into good colleges. I look forward to many great years as my child grows with Grandview.

Positive reviews of the school sound like advertisements. My experiences as a GPS parent have been very different . As others pointed out, staff keeps getting smaller and the teacher turnover is very high. There is no consistency. The staff is unprofessional and the gossip between parents and teachers is unprofessional. Not suited for an educational environment with children of all ages present. As another commenter pointed out, bulling is common. Several Pre-K kids report foul language, some informing parents that teachers curse on the phone, while the kids are napping. Older kids entering the school are those who are expelled or rejected by better schools. For parents considering sending their kids to GPS, I advise to research thoroughly. This school and its education is not worth the money. If you have options, consider a more stable and caring environment.

Our youngest son attended Grandview last year as a Kindergartner. We did not continue at Grandview due to relocation. The Kindergarten experience was wonderful. Grandview does a fantastic job of fostering a community feel among the parents. Staff is truly devoted to the kids and strives to remain educated and on the forefront of education. It was well worth the bite to the budget.

I am dissappointed with GrandView. The personalized attention I was expecting from a small environment is just not there because its staff keeps getting smaller and the teacher turnover is high. And even the better teachers that remain are just reacting to the system, probably worried about keeping their jobs instead of reaching out to students for a bit personalized attention and coaching. The administration does not hesitate to enforce detentions for tardies but they do not enforce office hours for teachers which results in students needing to get outside assistance on harder subjects - such as Algebra. Communication with the teachers and administration is not fluid- too bureaucratic for such a small school. I don't feel the standard of care is as advertised.

Back stabbing by administration and staff is prevalent. Stay away from the after hours courses. Staff turns a blind eye. They truly couldn't care less. Grandview has to be the best thing that has happened to my two children, the faculty is incredible and always there to assist and help you when needed, The teachers are so helpful when your child needs extra help with their studies. There is not one thing I would change about this school, My two children thank us every day that they are able to attend grandview and enjoy going there..The principal goes above and beyond her duty to help make the families happy and every child that attends grandview knows she is there for them. all I can say is hands down Grandview Preparatory school is a TEN rating in our family !!!!!

Very nice school. My daughter was doing well at another private school, but the school and kids seemed to teach that money was the end all be all. There was no community and no sense of belonging except for the kind of car you drove or how big your house is. The teachers seemed to buy into this as well. Grandview is a very down to earth place and, despite the fact, that probably many people are rich, they don't flaunt it and act like regular people. Teachers and administration are great too...they help the kids and treat you like a person ...not like a prospective donor. The PTA is a very nice group as well.

My child attended this school years ago, but left for a variety of reasons and now attends public school. My child was unprepared on so many levels after leaving Grandview, but particularly academically. The reviewer below who stated teachers play favorites and that the curriculum is watered down is absolutely correct. I cannot fathom sending a child to this school and then expecting them to be prepared for college.

The teachers do play favorites. The administration is back stabbing to parents and students. If they do not like you, or you don't fit in with their so called philosophy then they sabotage the students grade, or make the students life so miserable it forces them to leave, or they kick you out for false reasons. The curriculum is watered down so that they can get the kids into university, once the students are there the school could care less that the students are unprepared. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors, and parents are told what they want to hear, and unfortunately the parents fall for it every time.

As a grandmother I am telling you this school is wonderful! They are family oriented, in that all family members get involved in the child's overall education. It's like it used to be when I was a child. They teach lost values like common sense, ethics, striving for excellence and enjoyment/fulfillment of learning. My grandson is always happy and ready to tell you what he learned that day. It's all very exciting for him! Enrollment is down due to the recession. This is NOT an ordinary prep school. Most of these kids are from regular backgrounds and many of their parents go without everything else to send them here. This is how school is supposed to be.

Our children have been at Grandview for several years now and have thrived. I can't imagine another school where the teachers could be so connected with who they are as individuals and care so sincerely about them. Some schools are great at taking already talented kids and helping them along the way, but the teachers at Grandview also take the time to discover the talent and foster it. It's also a place where our kids can be with a diverse population and come to value individual differences. We love it!

My son attended seventh grade at this school and when he need additional help understanding complex math/algebra the teacher told him to hire a tutor. These people are more concerned about getting the $18,000 per year out of your pocket book and doing as little as possible work versus caring about the quality of a student's education! My child is now in a public school getting a far better education without spending $18,000 per year!

My daughter attends Grandview, (senior high school student), and has had academically challenging coursework, in a family supportive, community environment. The faculty is the best!

The teachers play favorites. If they don't like you they don't treat you very well. At my old school I was advanced and got A's and B's, but at this school the work is not interesting, and I have fallen behind, especially when I compare the work I'm doing with my friend who is in public school, I can see that I'm not doing the work that I'm suppose to be doing. I can't wait to leave this school.

My son has attended Grandview for the past 2 years and just loves it. He prefers the small class size and is glad to not be treated like a just a number, as he had been treated in the large public schools in Palm Beach County. Most students are involved in sports or other extracurricular activities offered by the school. The teachers are there to listen to my concerns when they arise and issues I've had are dealt with quickly. There is good communication on the part of the teachers and school staff. I love that the importance of community service is stressed and most students participate in volunteer/community service activities such as cleaning up the road, food drives, Hope Tote program, adopting families at holiday time, etc. My only concern is the lack of preparation for standardized testing, which the students will have to take at some point.

Moved from New Jersey. Our daughter is on the fast track here. Very please with the progress and the hollistic approach. Strong academics and a school size just right. No pretentious attitudes here - solid values, self-esteem and fun are what count here. Very international.

This is not a school worthy of the price. The computers are there as 'props' because they don't work. You are asked to purchase supplies for your children, yet they add an additional charge to the tuition for 'supplies'. It seems like almost the entire student body is made up of children or grandchildren of faculty members and the academics are not evenly distributed to students. The Headmistress is very difficult to deal with as well.

I went there for one year before I transferred. The academics were a joke, and I wish I could take back that year at a better private school or a public school. The teachers do not prepare students for the SAT or ACT, and many students are left with very poor scores. I transferred to a very rigorous private school where I learned Grandview had not prepared me at all for college level success. My SAT tutor agreed that Grandview was very poor academically, and didn t prepare students for standardized tests. Aside from the academics, Grandview is nice community with decent extracurricular activities.

Grandview has proven its worth to my family. From the incredible teaching staff, the indiviualized programs, the multi-cultural student body to the incredible lunch program, we have found nothing to make us question our decision to send our child to this school. Any time our child has had any difficulty the staff has been very thorough in not only handling the situation but also in keeping us up to date of our child's progress with it. The academic standard set by this school is high but the students are given the necessary tools to meet it and there is always a teacher available for extra help when needed. We have nothing but praise for this wonderful, family oriented school.

It is a cute school, but not one of any academic strength. There is a large ratio of teachers and staff that are parents or grandparents to students. It has not been challenging to my child academically. The faculty and staff are very nice. This school is not spectacular and not worth it for us.

Grandview is a small school with marvelous caring teachers and an ability to tailor curriculum to the needs of each child. The atmosphere is one of community - all the kids, parents and teachers know each other and look out for one another. Extra curricular activites are quite diverse for such a small school. High school teams are competitive adding positively to school spirit. If glitz and glamour are key to you - this is not the right school. Grandview offers a great private school education with small class sizes in a nurturing atmosphere. Our children have thrived here.

Grandview has high academic standards and, despite its location in wealthy Boca Raton, FL- it promotes strong 'Mid-western' values- My children love the teachers, participate in many of the strong athletic programs and earn good grades and test scores... who could ask for more?

Grandview has come a long way in the past several years. Teachers really seem to care about my children's success and understanding of what is being taught. Even though the middle and upper school is small, my kids have learned so much. The teachers are very creative with their lessons and my children have learned hands on. This approach makes learning much more impacting. The administration has an 'open door policy' and have been very open minded when bringing up ideas. This has made me feel very comfortable where I feel I am a part of my childrens education. Teachers post weekly progress reports on Edline so I know everything that is going on from assignments to HW to upcoming tests. This young school really has it going on!

Grandview is a great school. It is a small, friendly place that offers excellent academics, a great sports program, a plethora of extra-curricular activities, and a terrific community service and international exchange program. Grandview gives your child the opportunity to excel in many different areas and become a well rounded person.

Grandview offers excellent academic programs in a small campus setting. Lower school classes average 15 students. The small setting allows for a 'family' atmosphere which is very nuturing and allows for individual attention to students. My children have greatly benefited by the structure and size of Grandview. The school has numerous music, sports and other extracurricular activites for all grade levels. My children participate in Tae Kwon Do, Swimming, Glee Club and Band. Other activities, clubs and teams include golf, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, tennis, dance teams, drama, yoga, volleyball, swim team, academic clubs and others. Parental involvement is high with many social events held throughout the year. Emphasis is on 'family-friendly' activities. We have greatly enjoyed our Grandview experience.

Great small school community atmosphere where faculty and staff will recognize not only students' faces but parents as well. Small teacher/student ratio. Strong lower school; needs to build on upper school matriculation. School seems to be just starting to get off its feet though it is 7 years old. There is great potential though.

My children love the small class sizes, the individual attention and the warm 'family-like' feeling that they get when they go to school. My kids were there for pre-k and are now in kindergarten and they are thriving in this nurturing environment. We are very happy there. The school is great!

The best thing about Grandview Prep is how my son has been given individualized attention by teachers and administration. This has helped him achieve academically, socially and has helped him develop important life skills.
