The improvements I have seen this year are amazing. Organization, staffing and the focus on math/science have all been pumped up. The administration and front desk staff are warm and welcoming. The acedemic calander including field trips, PTSO meetings, honor roll ceremonies, report cards, school/class celebrations and testing have all been planned out and published for the entire year!! Love the improvements and so glad we stuck it out through the bumps in the road. We knew things would take time and we love PAMS!!
My 2 daughters attend this school and have made excellent academic progress. Their teachers developed individualized academic progress plans. They identified teaching and learning techniques based on how each of our daughters learned most effectively utilizing creative best practices. The teachers scheduled quarterly meetings with us to go over their academic progress and develop plans for the next quarter for continued academic progress. Field trips and community presentations are done for the students. My daughters have attended this school since it opened a couple of years ago. Of course the school experienced done growing pains which is typical if any new organization. The current principle is excellent and focused on creative proven best practices to promote academic excellence.
Our son has been at this school since the day that it has opened. Has there been a lot of changes in staff, Yes there has. Is this a bad thing, I would have to say no. All of the changes this school has made it has been for the better in my eyes. Our son is going into the 3rd grade and has loved all of his teachers and the after school staff. I compare our son's school work with his friend's that are at Saint Cecilia and Curtis Fundamental and they are all right at the same level. Our son gets one on one with a teacher if he needs it and he has loved going to school.
I also pulled my son out this year. In 2 years, he has never been to the library. They went on one class trip the entire year ( so a total of 2 class trips for the two years he was there), they do crossword puzzles if/when art class and have a poor excuse of a PE class once a week. There usually arent even enough balls for the ebtire class so some kids dont participate. They are definitely not getting the same experience thet would get at a regular elementary school. I feel like my son was not challenged academically and am looking forward to him experiencing a traditional elementary school again.
This school lacks quality in its administration, curriculum, and procedures. From my own personal experience I have never seen a school so disorganized and mismanaged in my life. No one knows what they are doing. This school is a tragedy waiting to happen. There is no quality management, no concern for curriculum for students, no concern for safety of students, no concern for a quality education. There isn't even a concern to spell words right or to have proper grammar on the school newsletters online. I would be very wary of this school. There are much better schools in the area. This school is not worth your child losing ground educationally. From my experience, the bullies run this school and administration allows it. Choose another school. Not worth it.
This school lacks leadership. Current principal lacks proper credentials and leadership degree and experience. Assistant principal has no experience in administration and was a dolphin trainer. Inadequate curriculum. Not enough books for students and admin refused to order more due to budget. Not cost effective to order enough books for each student. No ESE services provided even though funding is. Students IEPs are not followed or updated. Admin does not inform teachers that students have an IEPs. 504s are allowed to expired yet accommodations are still given on standardized testing. No background checks for volunteers. Art, music occurs randomly and mandatory PE requirement not observed. Many legal and ethical issues and violations of the schools charter. Teachers are doing incredibly with very little administrative support. Communication is spotty at best. Administration allows parents to manipulate them to move students from class to class. High stress. Hostile environment Not conducive to learning, but making making money
Spend one day picking up your child and you will be looking for negative numbers to rate this school. The teachers seem to stay half a term, my child is on her 2nd and 3rd principal. If you want to monitor a class, parents are not allowed in classrooms, I WONDER WHY the children in other schools are reading not here my child will need to take private reading lessons to get her up to speed at her new school. YES, she is out of there, run from this place as fast as you can.To the parents who think this school is so great I am happy for you but you need to get out there and see some real schools say Indian Rocks Baptist for one I know its not free but what is your child's future worth the child who starts behind stays behind and the child who starts ahead stays ahead, in this school you start behind. good luck next year you will need it.
Considering all the animosity with the prior principal, how could anyone of you pass judgement on someone who had only been in the position for 15 days. Shame on you.
If you are planning to put your child in this school, go meet the principal first. Such a disappointment !
My son is a straight A student and always has been A student weather he goes to this school or not. I feel like the principal does not care and some of the teachers. This school has a lot of problems that the admin. and principal are hiding. Pull my son out going to a great school now and still performing well as always a straight A student Do not go to this school you will be unhappy here!
I wanted a small, close knit setting for my middle school child. It is a smaller school with only 2 classes for each grade in middle school. This is exactly what we needed! The middle school teachers are great and very quick to respond to questions and concerns. Quite happy here!
My daughter is very happy and so am I at this school. This is our second year at this school and it just keeps getting better every day. Don't believe the bad reviews on this school, these parents want and expect their children to be coddled like infant's. If these so called parents are to busy complaining remove your child or children from My daughter absolutely loves her teachers, she is very involved in the sports program. Next year she is off to high school and I really wish that this school went all the way through 12th grade but I will be trying to find another charter school for that. the school, there is a long waiting list for enrollment into the school. The
Administration and the teachers at this school are top notch. The complainers are parents who think they know more education than the true educators and gripe about not being able to control this school policies. Most of these same parents have children who simply cannot cope or fit in at other schools and are at their wits ends in where to place their kids, only to vent their frustration when the child doesn't do any better here. Why expect your child to do better at a more stringent school than all the others they've already failed to succeed in? I get the feeling most of these parents expect miracles. Don't expect teachers to work miracles when you've failed in parenting. I know that the parents that complain the loudest are parents of children with the worst behavior. Stop asking why Johnny isn't doing well if you're not reviewing his homework, or papers returned home, or not attending parent teacher nights. This is a school with strict behavior and academic standards. If your child hasn't made it elsewhere, he shouldn't be here impeding the progress of good students. This isn't a remedial school. Stop blaming someone else. Daily homework, reading, math, science. No excuses!
We've only been at this school for about 3 months and were welcomed with open arms by both the principal and my daughter's 5th grade teacher. My daughter was really nervous the first day and the principal took the time to talk to her and her teacher was so supportive. It made my husband and I feel so happy with our choice especially since she moved mid-year.
I am a teacher in Pinellas county and I chose this school for my son. He loves his school and is learning so much. I love the safety and the staff. I will continuing sending my son here even though I can take him to my school because I love the private school feel and the school overall
I had SUCH high hopes for this beautiful (from the outside) school. I have a child who is currently in 2nd grade. I would get complaints daily about the chaotic classroom. I wanted to see for myself, and was told with sheer vigor, that " parents are NOT allowed in the classroom." Certain this was a fallacy I approached the Vice Principal AND the Principal, only to find out this was indeed a FACT! Parents are NOT allowed anywhere NEAR the classrooms!! I was outraged, and instantly wondered..."WHY?"...What in the world is going on in the classroom that parents are not allowed to see??? This frightened me to my CORE!! Think long and hard about sending your child to a school where PARENTS are truly LOCKED OUT. Charter schools are BUILT on the premise of parental involvement. Parents volunteer hours are spent straightening books in the glorious library, which by the way, the children have NEVER been to; or cleaning up the cafeteria after the children have gone back to class. If you are a parent who wants to be involved...this is NOT the school for you. I have pulled my child from this school.
This is my daughter's first year in this school and her first year at school in general. I was hopeful that this charter school would be a good one as far as the curriculum and how it is ran. Unfortunately, it has been disappointment after disappointment. The first week was one of the MOST stressful weeks I've ever had because of the mess of a carline pick-up/drop-off situation they were running. Parents were fighting with local business owners, talk about a LACK of organization. Then my daughter was switched into a different classroom only one month into school, so she had to adjust to that change. Then that teacher quit over the Christmas break so now she's going on her third teacher in her first Kindergarten year...pathetic! This school can't keep their teachers happy let alone keep them employed. Six teachers have left this year and it's only the beginning of second semester! I have seen numerous complaints about kids not being fed lunch, teachers blaming kids for the school's problems, etc. etc. My husband was even screamed at by the principal because he was unaware of a traffic condition at the school. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. This school is a trainwreck at best.
There isn't anything even slightly good about this school. My son will have been there a year and a half at the end of this school year. The two kindergarten teachers he had last year were the ONLY slightly positive thing. They do not accommodate well for children with learning disibilities. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. My son's 1st grade teacher was unaware my child even had a 504 plan. When she was absent, the sub. was also unaware...This school is totally inept with communcation, professionalism etc. I will be filing a complaint with the school board. My son's teacher also wears inappropriate clothing to school, as I was a witness to during our conference. I have requested my son be switched to another class to no avail.. Parents think TWICE about this school!!
This school had so much potential but I'm afraid they will never make this school what it could be. The management including principal do not attend any PTSO/school functions. Only a handful of the teacher's attend school functions. Huge disconnect in communication. 6 teachers did not come back from winter break. There is only one teacher who attends PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization) regulary. When I bring my child to school I feel that the teachers could care less what happens to him. Ask about the teaching staffs' credentials as well as the substitutes. This is my child's second year and it will also be his last.
I think this is a great school with great hardworking teachers and all the stars go for them because without them this would not be such a great school. However, the principal seems to have a huge disconnect with the school. Agree with previous poster about professionalism. She is not involved with school activities and does not seem to care to be involved. The teachers are the ones that care and make this a great school.
