Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I was so disappointed in this school, Tori Farmer Director of Enrollment should not be in that role, she was completely rude for someone who is suppose to make you want to enroll your kids in the school. I called the school for a week trying to get hold of her for a tour, then finally had someone call me and said I can come in on Wednesday, Tuesday night I checked my voice mail and had a message from Tori informing me my tour was cancelled and I can go in at 8:30 or 9 am on Thursday or Friday. Thursday I showed up at 9am to be informed Tori was busy, I asked the person at the front, can I wait on her and she said she doesn't know what her schedule is like, I then asked if there was anyone else I can speak with and she said no. Tori then called me later that afternoon and was extremely rude, telling me she expected me at 8:30 and I didn't show up and they don't take walk-ins and she had nothing else available for me. How can you expect me at 8:30 when she never spoke to me to confirm and she told me she was available Thursday and Friday at those times. This is the first Christian school I've ever been to with such rude staff...will not be sending my kids here.

I believe Real Life Christian Academy is a great addition in Clermont Lake County. I look for private school with religious affiliation and with out. Lake County have so many "religious private school" that they don't look private schools for the tuition they charged. Real life Christian Academy is the only one who stand up to be called a private school. Offers many programs compared to Montverde Academy which charges "double" than Real life Academy. If you do you homework looking for "private school" you going to find out the "tuition" is the lower compare with others private schools (I mean real private schools).

This school has much to offer! The facilities are amazing, top notch. However if your student has exceptionalities beware. The school has a strict policy on accommodations. Students with exceptionalities must enroll in OT. My son s therapy nearly doubled his tuition. The Discovery Program netted very little growth. The school prides its self with academic excellence but I have found that many of their instructors are inept. If your student is struggling you will be paying for a tutor. Very little review or remediation will be done at all to make sure your child has mastered the skill. Many classes are lecture based and the curriculum is not engaging. Often students read from the text and then answer text book questions. In my opinion this is not rigor. My son has been at Real Life for 2 years while there have been many positives he has struggled academically. My former honor roll student has failed his first and second class. This is not due to effort but because the schools policy and instructional quality do not meet his academic needs. I would not recommend this school or its intervention program for a student with exceptionalities.

My daughter is in third grade and her teacher, Mr. Brown is the best teacher yet! He uses fun and humor along with high expectations and she continues to thrive! She loves coming to school every day! Thanks Real Life for changing my daughter's life!

My first grader was blessed this year with a kind, patient, energetic and extremely motivating teacher. He absolutely loves her as he did his Kindergarten teacher last year. It is amazing what he has learned this school year. What a blessing RLCA has been in our lives. Thank you to that wonderful teacher who "really loves flowers" for all you have done for him.

My son has been attending Real Life for 3 years now. I am so pleased with the entire staff. The teachers, the Principal's and the rest of the staff does an awesome job. His 3rd grade and 4th grade teachers did an amazing job. He is in the 5th grade now and he once again has a great teacher. She has had so much interest in his education and has showed that the entire school year. Thumbs up to Real Life...

Real Life has been wonderful for my children this year. In fact, my 5th grader absolutely adores the teacher. She is helpful, patient and most importantly approachable. While we believe and truly appreciate the teachers our children have, we know that education in every sense of the word begins at home. Just like discipline. Real Life offers a great curriculum and a safe environment. The school also encourages parental involvement which is beneficial to all involved.

I love the small school atmosphere with a big school feel. I enjoy the fact that as a parent I am always encouraged be involved and be a part of my childs school experience. The Christian education reflects the directly with the theme of Real Life Church. Great School!

This is a great School with a very Challenging Academic program. The Administration however leaves a lot to be desired. The Administration in general has a bad attitude and does not give the due respect to the students or parents. I believe they makeup new rules as they go along, because there is usually a new rule a week. I am suprised that a great ministry like RealLife would allow such an attitude to continue. I will be moving on for next year.

REAL LIFE IS A GREAT SCHOOL. Our main objective for our children is a strong Christian education from biblical perspective and spiritual leaders who can assist in mentoring our children this school has it. My children love their classmates, their teachers and the overall atmosphere of Real Life. We also realize that not every student, every parent, every teacher or even the administration staff will see eye to eye on every situation or circumstance; therefore the school turns to Matthew 18 in handling all issues. Our family is extremely happy with Real Life and we will continue to pray for the leaders and teacher of this school!

Our son had gone through 6th grade at our local public school. He had been passing with C s or better, but we could tell that he really wasn t getting it . After taking the placement test at RLCA, we were shocked to learn that his reading comprehension and vocabulary were at only a 2nd grade level. We knew he would fall through the cracks if he remained at public school; so we decided to have him repeat 6th grade at RLCA in August 2007. The teachers and administrators at RLCA have been great. They have encouraged and uplifted him, imparting both discipline and grace. Last week he took the required College Placement Test for Dual Enrollment at our local Community College. To God s glory and with the help of some truly amazing teachers, friends and mentors, he passed the Reading portion of the test and will take an English class over the summer. With the extra classes he ll be able to take, he will have enough credits to make up for the year he was held back and will graduate in May 2013. Thank you, Real Life Christian Academy for holding our son to a higher academic standard and helping him to achieve his goals.

Comment to "My son is been attending to this school for a couple years". I read your comment and I must disagree with you. It is not the school's responsibility to correct your child's behavior. Behavior and dscipline MUST begin at home. The school can only help to reinforce what you, as parents, have established in that child. I have 3 children at Real life and one who was having some behavior issues. Real Life worked with us to help develop a plan for success and it worked. Parenting class are offered throughout the year and we have found that both the teachers and the administration are VERY accessible. If you expect the school to "fix" your child, you have a wrong impression of the role of any school. It was once said that it "Takes a Village" to raise a child, but I found that statement only partially correct. Yes, we must support each other but the foundation MUST be established at home with loving parents who understand the need for rules, discipline and love. A school like Real Life is only a PART of the team. You are the coach.

Comment to "My son is been attending to this school for a couple years". Do not have a child in this school but saw your post when looking at schools in the area. Just curious why you think it is the school's responsibility to teach children to obey. Is that not our job as parents?

My son is been attending to this school for a couple years unfortunately he is not improving his behavior or his grades the teacher is not well prepared to manage his behavior neither administration even with a PHD referral after referral, i feel that I'm on my own. If you have a kid with some type of misconduct or disabilities this is not the school for you but if your kid is an angel and you are a full time mom or dad then this is a good place for them you just do the work for them and pay tuition to keep the schooll up. Administration and some teachers have to go. Please.

Being part of the RLCA family has been an amazing experience and one that I hope to belong to for a long time. I have 1 student in the PreK-4 class now and another that will begin next year in the PreK-3 class because of such a successful first year at the academy last year. My son has progressed so quickly it is hard to believe that so many positive changes can happen in only a year. The teachers are so amazing, they are patience and king, yet strict to their rules of building character and a moral foundation. The administration is caring and gentle too, but they provide a structured loving environment that enhances understanding of education values and Christian perspectives. This is a family who truly believes in the success of every student and I highly recomend Real Life Christian Academy to anyone in search of a place to find not only education at the highest standard, but to find a place that will foster our future leaders!

I am a student! I have attended schools that care about the student, RLCA does not! I thought I would write from a student perspective. I get straight A's and I am popular, I have never been written up, never got a referral...I have had classmates bully me and the principal did nothing about it! Sad coming from a student that used to speak highly and was proud to say I went to Real Life!!! Not anymore! I was not in Student council but what I saw was real leadership! Maybe the administration could learn a thing or two about leadership from watching the students!

This site asks us to rate the administration. I have not seen vicious comments. People are simply stating their opinion. We were asked by administration to come here and rate the school. They requested it so you have to take the good with the bad. One way to avoid that type of email being distributed to the entire school is to pick up the phone and CALL the parent. This is how behavioral issues should be handled. Formerly, I was a Dean of Students at a school with over 1200 kids and every referral warranted a phone call from me to the parent. This was a public school and we were not even permitted to put this type of information into an email because of public records and privacy issues. I have seen very few posters say anything bad about teachers. There seems to be a consensus that the teachers are overall very good. The fact remains, however, that every thing rises and falls on leadership, and many parents seem very unhappy with administration. It is not the tough decisions. All administrators have to make them. It is the spirit in which you handle those tough decisions, and their people skills are lacking.

The teachers and staff care about the children and do everything possible to create a safe learning environment for the students. The attacks on administration are not necessary. You may not agree with them, but put yourselves in their shoes and think about how you would address situations they are faced with daily, while keeping 300+ students parents happy! If this was possible, I think we d live in a perfect world! As with any school, you have to take the good with the bad, and in this case there is more good than bad! They are still working out some kinks, but have come so far in the past few years!! For parents who are considering RLCA for your child s next school or new school, go for it! RLCA has a lot to offer now, and they are working diligently toward offering so much more!

I have been attending RLCA for 2 years and it has been the wrost experience for me. i come home crying alot from what other kids have said to me. I am in the 8th grade now and I should not be dealing with these issues at a christian school. I dont think this school cares about bullying and if your not in the popular crowd the teachers could care less for you. They dont even act like teachers. If you complain to the school. the principle does nothing. It was the wrost mistake coming here. I hope you dont make the same mistake i did.

We had the bad luck of having a teacher that yield at the children all the time the administration never believe our child that this was happening but I had the opportunity to talk to other moms in our grade and find out that it was true. This particular teacher is well known for screaming and Administration did nothing about it and my kid has to suffer the whole year with a fear of this teacher. The previous years were wonderful.

I just read through the reviews and have many of the same experiences as others. Positives: Most teachers are very good, expanding extra curricular program, nice front office staff. Negatives: the attitude of the Administration. One reviewer mentioned they felt they were alone in their feelings until they had the opportunity to start talking with other parents. BINGO! The reason RLCA refuses to start a PTA. They don't want parents having the opportunity to talk to one another because strength is in numbers. If parents are not able to come together and form consensus, then the administrators and their bad attitudes will continue to stay. I also agree it is sad the quality of the school does not match that of the church. The church is wonderful and it is too bad the Pastor has such a hands off policy about the school. I think he will regret that soon. For those angry about the posts regarding administration, my bet is you have not had to deal with them. The school attendance is staying steady because of accepting corporate tax scholarships. Parents want alternatives to a public school and can use these scholarships. Not sure this is a great alternative.

If you are a potential parent of a RLCA student for the upcoming year please reconsider! If you care about your child or your child has any sort of disability in learning or socially...Do not send them to Real Life! Get your money back..its your legal right! There are other schools in the area that care about your child and the two adminstrators are going to run RLCA into the ground which is too bad that it can't be equal to the quality of the Church! The Church really needs to reconsider and replace both of them! We recently got an email "by mistake" talking about a a student and how he brought a cell phne to school...that was suppose to be a personal email to that parent but all 350 families got the email! If you are a leader with or with out a doctorate, these things should not happen..the email tld the entire school family that this studentwas getting suspended!

Well they asked us to come and rate the school .... we are not very happy either administration won t listen we try to communicate and express how we are feeling about the academics and the particular way that a teacher resolve some issues in class they won t listen the lady seem well prepared but she is not she cannot keep a conversation very close mind and won t accept any request or suggestions from us she was very defensive, we feel like we are in a public school again, . Not very happy not sure if our son is coming back very difficult decision since we are looking for a Christian school. Quote you don t really need a phd to be a great teacher, that don't mean much when you don't care about the kids or the parents.

Some of the teachers have degrees in education. Some have associate's degree in different fields, some have certificates, and some just have experience. You can go to RLCA's website and read teacher's profiles and see for yourself. Perhaps the person who checked with the office has a teacher who has a degree, but it is not a requirement for employment. Very few are certified as teachers in the State of Florida. You can go to the Department of Education website and enter a teacher's name to find out. If you have had a great experience at RLCA, that is awesome, however do not spread false information that all teachers are certified because it simply is not true. I am a person who believes certification does not actually lead to a great teacher so it is not a huge issue to me, but it is important to give accurate information to those who see it as a deciding factor. Just my two cents.

Two years ago we were coming from a christian school looking for a better fit christian school for our kindergartner. After attending the Open House, we enrolled our child at RLCA. In the two years our child has attended - we can say we have received much more than a "better fit" christian school. This is a CHRISTian School. The teachers have exceeded our expectations. They have a disciplined curriculum, yet create a caring and fun environment. This includes competitive sports from a Coach that has added immense value to RL. And an Administration that has always been approachable. They are out in the car line every day. Our child has only thrived here! And we are Blessed to re-enroll our child for the 2011-2012 school year!

I am certain no school is going to fit everyone. For us, it has been a great experience, and we have been thankful for the role of RLCA in our lives. Not to beat a dead horse, but their teachers are required to be certified. I checked. If in doubt, ask the office to show you the certificate.

Excellent and challenging curriculum. Exceptional facilities, grounds and programs. Strong leadership, including both prinicpals (lower and upper school). The most loving yet firm academically challenging teachers. My child has attending school at RLCA for eight years. The school and teachers have always been available, responsive and helpful for all the needs that have arisen during those years.

My daughter came from a public high school in another county. Her school was considered one of the best in Central Florida, but she was very unhappy there. When we moved to Clermont, I had heard nothing but negative comments about the public high schools and knew I had to find another option. My daughter has gone from being miserable in school to looking forward to every day with great enthusiasm. She has always done well academically and has never had behavior issues, and this continues to be the case at RLCA. The difference is small close-knit classes, caring teachers and faculty, and most importantly, an emphasis on Christ. I feel so blessed to have found this school and only wish she could have spent more time here. She will be a senior next year and I know she will miss RLCA dearly when she graduates. I have two younger daughters that attend public elementary schools and I am praying that we will find the means to enroll them in RLCA soon. I highly recommend this school.

My children have been attending RLCA for several years now. They love the school and I do too. The teachers care so much for their education and are always working the extra mile to help the children succeed. They have the chance to do many extracurricular activities, such as sports, drama, service, etc. And all this under the direction of Jesus Christ who is the main force, purpose and the guidance in everything that concerns the school.

Both of my children attend this school. My son is in Kindergarten and my daughter in Pre-K. We are so pleased with many aspects of this school, especially the teachers. The teacher's are genuine, kind, and enjoy being with the children. My children's christian character has grown, their respect towards me has increased, and the quality of education is incomparable to what they would receive in a public school. It's an investment in their future and through a tough economy, worth every penny.

My child has been attending RLCA for 3 years and we are so very happy with the education that he is receiving. Every subject that is taught seems to always have a bible theme which is shaping my childs future to always have trust and faith in God in everything he does. We are so blessed to have such Godly Administrators and teachers in our childs life. I too, hope that he will graduate from RLCA and go on to a Christian College. Of course we are praying that RLCA will have a college by that time. GOD BLESS

My son has been attending RLCA for since he started school (8 years now (before the name change and new location). Obviously we love it. One of the things we liked was the vision of the school. The current administrators have helped realize that vision. They have excellent teachers, strong leadership, and many extracurricular activities. Best of all, it all is focused around Jesus and his Word. It doesn't get any better. I cannot more highly recommend RLCA.

Our 2nd year at Real Life and to put into simple terms, AWESOME SCHOOL. My son is excelling much faster in this school then my daughters did in public school. He is learning spanish and pre-algebra in 3rd grade. Amazing.... The staff is always willing to help when a problem arises as long as you bring it to their attention in a non-threatening, Christian manner. Thanking God right now for the excellent teachers and staff.

Our son has been attending RLCA since 2007. He was in 6th grade and was falling through the cracks at public school - not failing, but not succeeding, either. He is now completing 9th grade and is doing so much better. The teachers at RLCA have been phenomenal - willing to take extra time to make sure their students are "getting it". The students have the same teachers for several grades and are able to form strong relationships with godly adults who truly care about their academic and spiritual growth. The administration is fair and straightforward. When discipline is necessary, the punishment fits the crime. RLCA is definitely the best school for our son.

I personally appreciate that RLCA expects their students to arrive on time, turn in their work, & behave while on campus. Very reasonable expectations! This is my sons 3rd year here & I have the same 15 min. to drop him off as everyone else..he has NEVER been late. I find that the no nonsense approach that the staff has towards their students is refreshing. The fact that RL has strict rules & teaches from a biblical background was exactly what I was looking for in a school. Ex: the 1st year here he was being mistreated by a "bully" - that bully was dealt with by the admin in a swift, permanent manner - for that I was very grateful! I also know for a fact that RLCA DOES require its teachers to be certified, not true of many area private schools, a valid question to ask when looking at schools. The staff here also frequently use their weekends & vacations to take classes to gain additional skills to help their students. What more can we ask of them?! My family is treated as family by the entire staff & I have seen the majority of the teachers just as involved at the church side of RL...its very refreshing seeing them live out the faith they teach our children. Thank you RLCA!

I am absolutely floored at the comments posted here blasting such a great school and great administration. Both of our administrators have shown the most competence I have seen as leaders. I feel blessed that they are leading my child and setting the example they do for him. Both are highly intelligent, super motivated and very spiritual. These disgruntled people obviously have children that get in trouble at this school and therefore find themselves at odds with administration who are trying to do the job of teachers, leaders and "parents" to their children. These parents need to remember that it is a CHOICE to send their kids to this school. Parents CHOOSE this school - its not required... if you dont like it, leave, so that the ones that do like it can get an education around your kids who disrupt it. On another note, hopefully these parents have handled their discrepancies with the administration the biblical way...face to face with the person before blasting in an annonymous fashion.

Our children have been at Real LIfe for 6 years, and up to this year we were happy. Administration has become extremely arrogant and are not interested in the feelings and thoughts of parents. The fact that all teachers are not certified has never bothered us in the past, but we are beginning to see as our children progress to middle and high school, the certification is important. The teachers simply are not qualified to teach the material. Unfortunately, there are very few other affordable private school options in the area, so parents are forced to settle for RLCA. I am encouraged to see Family Christian beginning to re-build its lower school to allow parents additional options. It will be too late for us, but good for families with younger children. It is a shame the quality and family feel of the school continues to decline. They have wonderful facilities, and some FANTASTIC teachers. A few are spoiling the bunch and administration is non-responsive which does not help the situation. There is such potential for the school, but it will never reach its full potential under the current leadership.

My wife and I have raised two older children in three different schools throughout their educational years in two other states. My youngest who is the only one left in the house attends Real Life Christian Academy. It is by far THE BEST school we have ever seen. The teachers are the friendliest, most comprehensive, and proactive that we have ever encountered. What this school lacks in extracuricular activities it more than makes up for in safety, quality, and relevant education that challenges even the brightest of students. We thank God for this school every day.

This is my daughters first year at RLCA. She is in grade 3 and her teacher is wonderful, the best teacher she has ever had and she thinks the world of him. It was a difficult transition as we have moved from England but her teacher has made it a good experience for her. She is getting fantastic grades and we owe it all to her 3rd grade teacher (this year there is only one). What a difference from public school! My son has been attending now for 2 years and he has really blossomed at RLCA! My kids are about to finish their second year at this school. We moved to Clermont and chose RLCA over a gifted program. Our children have been challenged, motivated, loved, respected, and encouraged. Their teachers have taught them philanthropy, their peers (all ages) are like family (sometimes they bicker and sometimes they love each other), and the other families are amazing. This is the best school for my family and I am proud to be a part of Real Life. It is non-denom and my children are taught to have a Christian worldview with superior academics. The older students are great role models for my children..both encouraging and helpful. I've never felt so welcome from staff and other families.

Real Life is an excellent school. I really appreciate all that they do. The teachers are dedicated to teaching not only from the bible but all subject areas, they strive for excellence! You pay for what you get and altho the school may be a little pricey, it is definitely worth my child's future. My kindergartner is reading and writing while also communicating very expressively with a large vocabulary. Her faith in God has grown enormously and the love she has for God flows through our home. I feel very blessed to have found a school and home at Real Life. Thank you for all you do!!

This is our first year at RLCA, my daughter loves it there and so do we. The teachers are teaching accountability, not just academics. It has been a great year.

This is our second year at RLCA and out third year as members of RLCC. Our daughter loves going to school and church! Granted, she is only in Kindergarden, but it is a great start to the day when she wakes up and is excited about going to school. The teachers, especially her teacher this year Mrs. Osborne, are amazing! They teach academics at a higher level, yet with the guidance to each student that helps ensure a learning environment where the student can excel. In addition, they teach accountability for one's actions, along with good moral lessons based upon the scriptures in the Bible. The staff are all caring, willing to listen, and encourage parent participation. No problem is too big, or too small for the staff to get to the bottom of, and teach valuable lessons to all involved at the same time. I highly recommend RLCA to all!

Academically this is a good school with some excellent teachers . . . and some real duds like most schools. The administration can be rigid and inflexible however, which may not be to every parents liking. If you consider this school try to talk with other parents who have children that attend as well as parents that no longer attend as it can be insightful. This is an Evangelical Christian School which is why many parents select it, but do not be mislead by non-demoninational christian classification some websites describe it as. The curriculum is taught from this perspective as well.

I think this school is great. They teach to learn not teach to test.

Real Life is a great school. The teachers are amazing. How nice it is to be at a school where the teachers love and teach my children! My first grader is a great reader and is learning patience in handwriting from his teacher who sees the best in him. My older child is learning study skills and personal accountability. Communication with the teachers is great and the grade and homework reporting online is so easy to track. Love RLCA!

The perfect school if you believe memorizing bible versus is more important than learning to read or add. Undeniable NOT worth the $5,000 a year PLUS 'materials fee' and 'technology fee' and any other 'fee' they can think of.

Great school. Their elementary portion is tops for a building block for high school. The teachers are wonderful and the staff are like family.

It should be known that First Christian Church School, is now South Lake Christian Academy! The school now goes from K-3 to 8th grade. The class sizes are smaller so the teacher has more one on one with the children. I love this school!
